What kind of animal would someone in the Star Wars universe keep as a pet? Is there such a thing?
Oh yeah, there's a whole section on pets on wookiepedia if you feel like browsing:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Pets
I have definitely never wasted an hour or two browsing EU creatures. Nope, not me.

What is a 'misfire'? I see it everywhere but I can't find a definition on the internet no matter how hard I look.
"Misfires" are comments that are accidently made either on the wrong post (i.e. prompt made in the fills/discussion post), or more commonly, reply comments that accidently end up as their own thread by hitting “post a new comment” instead of “reply to this”.
It is a reasonably common practice on kinkmemes to treat these misfires as genuine prompts and write fills for them. This partially for humour purposes and partially as a fun/challenging creative exercise.
As someone who has had to anon-ask about acronyms on kinkmemes, more than once, I can assure you there are no silly questions.

Nothing like a 2% kudos to hit ratio to let you know you've posted crap. :(
Or... it could be the same people coming back multiple times because they like it so much. You can only kudos once, after all.
Hello. I'm new to Reylo, and I'm having trouble finding fics. Does anyone have any angsty recs? Lol Also, preferably kinky please.
Try searching the tags on Tumblr. Find blogs with a lot of Reylo content & ask them for recs.
Sorry I don't have anything more useful. It's definitely not my ship.

Let's have em, shall we?

not sure if you are on tumblr , but there has been reccing rounds for weeks now! certain themes, but also posts about under-recced, or under appreciated fics.
I have a question: Do all the people putting Kylo in Amidala-esque dresses have a cross dressing fetish (which is perfectly fine, just to be clear) or are they just a bit too unoriginal/unwilling/not well versed enough in fashion to come up with mens wear/more androgynous versions of those dresses?
Because sure, men in skirts and dresses are not that unusual, but the vast majority of the gifsets/inspiration pictures etc. (And the fanarts based on them) I've seen are of female models as well. There are perfectly fabulous menswear collections with androgynous/costumey pieces, why are people so hellbent on womens wear? (Especially since a lot of those cuts would not at all work on a body like Kylo's)

Because men in dresses is funny hurhur
So I'm still pretty new to this fandom and haven't really gotten into any of the non-tfa stuff, so I was wondering what fandom stuff has been established about alien junk/mating/ect. For instance in the Star Trek fandom there is a lot about Vulcan and Klingon mating and genitals. Is there Star Wars accepted/popular meta??
From what I've seen, there's not much consensus on alien mating stuff, since the majority of the shipped characters are human. There's a bit of telepathy between pairs involving at least one Force user, and cultural differences between the two opposing factions, but not much else.
Well, I mean, there's the fanon that Snoke has ZERO knowledge about humans, from their number of limbs to how they mate, but that's mostly just crack.

I have no idea why, but anytime I see Kylo/OFC, I first read it as KFC, and I have a lost moment pondering the popularity of fried chicken in the Star Wars universe.
Anyone else have misreads to share?
Anyone else have misreads to share?
Haha. I'd rather read about Kylo devouring a big family - size bucket of fried chicken that's for sure!
Alright, alright, step right up, now placing bets on Episode 8 title possibilities. Rian Johnson has a history of one-word titles, but Star Wars in general has no less than three words.
What's it gonna be?
(My personal favorite I've seen so far is "Rise of the Apprentice")

Let's see, there's the ancient Jedi temple with Rey and Luke, Kylo and Hux getting it from Snoke and probably turning towards Emperorship somehow, probably some kind of backstory reveal for Finn, Poe's (apparent) death, the regrouping from the loss of the Hosnian system and the center of government, with Finn getting recaptured and reconditioned and a 'the light side is fucked' cliffhanger to lead into IX.
"Star Wars: The Shit Hits the Fan."
"Star Wars: The Shit Hits the Fan."
I've read a lot. I'm curious.
How many… ever? Thousands, easy. And back-buttoned out of thousands more. I have been known to re-read favourites too.
For Star Wars since TFA? Hmm, probably no more than 100-200, at a generous estimate, and many of those were shorter.
On the kinkmeme? Well, there are 35 pages worth of fills and a quick revisit tells me on average that no more than 1 or 2 fills per page really catch my eye (not including my own fics, obvs), so probably <70 all up here.
I am curious about how these numbers stack up with others now.

It was mentioned upthread that some fics don't get enough love / feedback / kudos, etc. If you have a fic and would like some comments or feedback on please post a link to it here.
Constructive comments. Not everything has to be sunshine and gumdrops but there is no point in rudeness since people work really hard on these stories.

Oh, I don't think so. Like painting a target on it.
Totally off-topic of the meme, but there's a trope/offshoot of a tumblr post(?) that I've been seeing on ao3 lately. I'm intensely curious, but I'm also aware it would be Bad for me to click on it. I take the warning in the tags seriously and we're all better off that way.
But I'm _really_ wondering what kind of "myspace AU" involves guro and that kind of thing? Is this a different myspace than the social network site?
No judgment on the authors/readers, I've done my share of hardcore kinks, it's just that this one is a squick for me. So I'm balancing my squick with my curioisity.

I see your words and understand what almost all of them mean, but it's like I'm reading a book in a dream and nothing makes sense...
What's all this then?
What's all this then?
Can we talk about the assigning of chess roles to characters on the TFA Chess board? A prompt just made me aware this is a thing, and apparently Vader is King and Kylo is Queen for black, and Luke is King and Rey is Queen for white.
The toy division of TFA wants people to ship Luke/Rey and Vader/Kylo?

Maybe, but Bishop!Leia is definitely not wearing a bra.
The book isn't out yet, but I've been reading and apparently it reveals when the Jedi Massacre happened, five/six years before TFA takes place. If this is true it definitely changes a lot of the "fanon" timeline a lot of us have. Means Kylo was an adult when he killed his fellow students. Rey would have been 13/14, etc.
There are also talks that the aithor wasn't allowed to look at the script and this might have caused the timeline fail, but I also feel like Disney wouldn't let something so huge pass. Idk. What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

He was adult sized in the flashback scene, so...
I have to admit, I'm a little annoyed at people throwing links under people's prompts for fic they think would fit the prompt. I'm sure they mean well but idk, if it's on AO3 and under the relevant pairing tags, chances are people who want to read about it have already seen it and would like to read sone thing new.
And in a lot of cases, potential authors see this and think "Oh hey, there already is something for this, no need to write anything" and move on.

Yeah it's kind of annoying. That being said, I have found good fics that way. I do think it's a bit thread-jacky tho.
Out of curiosity, do OPs ever not identify themselves, intentionally or accidently, when responding to fills for their prompt?
I often forget which prompt is mine because mine are so old and there's always three or more very similar prompts by other anons after them, so rather than risk claiming to be the OP of a prompt I'm not certain is mine, I'll not identify as the OP at all.
please someone gimmie some fluffy prompts about these two. i love them and am having a rough AF time rn so writing fluffy drabbles is my only ho.
prompted 2, not sure how fluffy they are.
Hand to God I am not trolling. I'm not trying to start a ship war and I'm not trying to make some kind of meta trap. I have been watching the rise of Kylux into the TFA fandom juggernaut and I honestly just... don't understand it. The fandom attaching itself to Hux, who is a pretty minor villain, is... ??? What is going on here? Why this guy? Why is this the guy that fandom has decided en masse to identify with and make up elaborate backstories for and generally be interested in? Are people resonating with being in some kind of highly structured heirarchical office job or academia? Do you guys have a thing for redheads? Hux fans, I am not judging, I'm just really confused. I really want to know what it is that draws you to this character. If anyone wants to write me an anon character or ship manifesto or like, three line answer, please. You're my only ho.
For me,
1) domhnall gleeson is alternatively fucking hot and adorable to me so there is that
2) I can make evil dudes do nasty kinky things or give them really sad backstories without feeling bad
3) hatesex
4) violent hatesex 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
I personally dislike stories that have a nice Hux because ???? that is such a departure from what was portrayed in the total 10 minutes of screentime he has.

BECAUSE THORGY ARGH it's like katya all over again for me ; ;
I might actually cry if Kim Chi or Chi Chi goes home.

Thorny sucked though. *shrug*
Is anyone doing anything interesting for May the 4th, Star Wars Day? I'm going to a recreation of the Mos Eisley cantina at a local bar/art gallery. I'm making up my own OC costume, and I'm not sure whether I should go as a rogue Jedi and do earth tones and black, or just make up a flashy costume with a lot of color and say I'm something silly like a manicurist for Dathomirians.
Not doing anything special, since my town is small and lame. But I say go for the rogue! You can never have too many Jedi cosplayers, after all!
I don't want to rant about High School AUs or DaddyDomHux characterizations but it's really not my cup of tea and I wish I could read more fic where their personalities are close-ish to the canon. Does anyone have fic to rec? I don't mind AUs (for example I can see Hux being a vampire without being OOC) or redemption arcs, I just want more fic where they both act their age, are both pretty shitty people, and which are set in the SW universe.
Millicent is a ginger cat (mostly accepted as female) that someone involved with the movie claimed, via Twitter, belongs to General Hux. The idea that the highest ranking member of an evil fascist military could have enough of a soft spot in his black heart for a cat appealed to many, and here we are now. It also increases similarities between Hux and Hitler, who had a dog named Blondie.
Why Kylux in particular? Probably because what little we've seen of Hux's attitude towards Kylo Ren can be interpreted as being similar in nature to that of a prickly cat - judgmental yet aloof, with a high likelihood of violence. But given enough time, that cat may let you pet it, and may even one day sit in your lap purring.
Tl;dr, Someone said Hux has a cat, and people who ship evil bastards tend to be fans of cats.
Hope that helps, anon.

I know writers don't do this on purpose and redemption stories can be hard. But it makes me uncomfortable when people villanize the trio for not warming up to Ben.
I haven't seen it with Rey or Finn jet, but have where Poe is made to act like a jerk to Kylo/Ben and we are supposed to feel like he's in the wrong because he should be forgiving and befriending Kylo instead and it is not until he asks Kylo for forgiveness or gets talked down by everyone else that he is forgiven.
I don't know, but I feel like it dismisses Poe's torture at the hands of Kylo and it makes me uncomfortable because I think it's more than rational for these characters not to forgive Kylo and that them not liking him should not get turned into this character flaw that needs to be fixed.
I would even say, I prefer to see more stories were Kylo actually has to win people's trust and that in some cases, he's not going to get it. It's realistic.

Agreed, some characters should be allowed to hold onto their hate without that being treated as somehow irrational. Kylo Ren tortured and killed people. Trusting him is possible, with work, but I don't see the good guys actually befriending him as realistic. I'm not going to get chummy with the local child murderer after all, so why would they?
That said, somebody has to be the villain in a story. And when you've made the canon bad guy some kind of delicate flower who everybody loves, well, that means somebody else has to be thrown under the bus.
Plus people are lazy, and good characterization is hard.
I much prefer the bad guys go un-redeemed, myself. If I liked them as a monster, why would I want to change that?
