It's a hard thing to learn. Fandoms are made up of a lot of young people, and the majority will be inexperienced. Once the fandom they cut their teeth on dies down, be it months or decades later, they may never write again, and the next big thing will be full of a whole new crop of people making those same mistakes.
It's not like they teach "how to have conflict without character bashing" in English class.
The sad thing is, a lot of YA books are written by people who are 20+ professional authors who should know better, but get lazy because "kids won't know any better." It's shameful.
