I tend to write mostly poetry or scripts when I'm working on my own original projects, but I've been giving SW fanfic a shot to hone my fiction skills, which involve describing how characters think and feel in fairly explicit terms. I haven't written that kind of fiction ever since college; in my junior year I had not just one person, but three people AND a professor compliment me on writing such well-researched autistic viewpoint characters.

If you had the chance to make your own lightsaber, what would you want it to look like?
Personally, I'm fond of the idea of a cotton-candy-pink lightsaber (though if Oscar Isaac's rainbow lightsaber is possible, then I 10000% want one like that instead, lol.)

Yeah, trends tend to cycle on here. It also depends on the general fandom mood and what prompts are being posted. Like how recently there've been a lot of Kylux prompts, and before that there were quite a few prompts heavily featuring 'background' characters like Mitaka and Thanisson. Prompt more of what you would like to see, and you'll most likely see other people thinking about your prompt and coming up with their own variation. :)

I've made this mistake myself and see a lot of people also make it, but now that I have been able to sit down and watch the film more carefully (in HD), their reunion actually happens on D'Qar. :\

I've never seen anyone making that mistake. They were both at Takodana at the same time, but they definitely didn't physically meet.
Damn it I want to go see the movie again now just to see the Resistance squadron response at Takodana and the "that's one hell of a pilot "scene again. I also want a fanvid of Poes squadron flying in to like, Flight of the Valkyries or Welcome to the Jungle or so many other songs. I can't wait for any fancies for this movie.

Okay, so I guess I don't understand Force mind probes; Did Kylo find the information he needed from Poe by just looking through his head, or did he torture Poe into finally giving up the information himself?
If Kylo just took the BB-8 knowledge, why knock Poe around at all? Why try using Stormtroopers or interrogators or droids?

Okay, I don't actually know, but what makes the most sense to me is that torture is used to weaken mental defences so that Ren can get in more easily.
Again, it's unclear if it's necessary or not. Are people more or less susceptible to mind-reading? Can people improve their defences? How effective is torture at breaking defences? We just don't know.
Alternatively, they tried torture, it didn't work, someone decided it was worth calling in Ren despite the dangers associated with bothering him.

Any time I see a gifset or mention of the 'keep it it suits you' jacket scene, I keep thinking of Dobby being given a sock.

I don't usually read modern AUs, but I'm following a cute WIP with teacher!Finn and I recently read a really good and serous take on Finn being a child soldier and Poe a journalist/pilot, which I enjoyed.
For me, I tend to prefer fantasy AUs which is why I don't read a lot of the high school/coffee shop/etc. type of AUs. So I wouldn't mind seen more of those. I'm thinking of prompting once the freeze is over something in the universe of Dragonriders of Pern (never read the series but I did read a long fanfiction AU for it and I want to see these characters in that universe). I also would not say no to more horror inspired AUs, ghosts/vampires/werewolves all that good stuff.

It's an interesting take on their relationship. But Kylo is already loyal and dependent towards snoke. And i don't really see him being swayed that easily. I guess it depends on the writing. But We, the Kykux fandom, may have replaced the creepy old Holo with a handsome substitute.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-24 05:16 am (UTC)(link)Interesting point. I think it's largely that people see Kylo as clearly manipulated by Snoke and interpret as "easily malleable" while interpreting Hux as a tactical or interpersonal genius, which is fertile grounds for that sort of dynamic.
I admit I would be more into Kylo/Snoke if Snoke wasn't gross looking though :/

So apologies if this is a super dumb question, but lately I've seen a lot of posts on A03 and requests that include Hux's cat. Is this a fanon thing or canon? And if it is fan creation then where did it come from?

I'm thinking about jumping into the fandom to get some fills done. I've written in a lot of fandoms, but for some reason I've always been hesitant about getting into the SW one despite seeing all the movies, reading wikis, reading an ungodly amount of SW fanfic.
Aside from tone, I think my biggest worry is not getting the feel of the SW universe. Language used (kriffing) or like a shower is a sonic shower or refresher. There's probably a lot of things I'm missing, and I'm wondering if there's someone or a place that can SW pick stories the same way people in BBC Sherlock have Brit pickers to get language, slang, terms correctly.

For me, it's prosthetic arms, especially robot arms. I sincerely have no idea why but I think it's a queer lady thing.
Scars or amputations. The idea of those being touched or kissed, stimulated until the person loses control.
Anyone knows how I would go about finding fics with Kylo and/or Hux as kids? I've read the two I've found in the meme but like, does anyone know someone who writes about them? I'm very inept and I like to read about sad children lol :(

I kind of wonder, Yoda and Obi-wan went poof when they died and became Force ghosts. Anakin didn't but became a Force ghost after cremation. Is there something where the physical body of a Force user has to be atomized/vaporized/turned to smoke before their Force ghost can roam free and until then they're stuck hanging out with their bodies?

long story short, possible episode eight spoliers were leaked today. nothing about finn, rey, kylo, or luke; however, the article i read noted that general leia apparently had to step down (???) from running the resistance, and put laura dern's new character in charge in her stead.
the article then stated that poe dameron will reportedly lead a coup against dern's chracter for control of the resistance, attempting to overthrow her.
basically im concerned on a number of levels. what happened to leia? who is laura dern's new character; is she related to someone from the original trilogy? why does poe hate her to the point of leading a mutiny against her, or alternatively, why is poe trying to disrupt the workings of the resistance? is he (possibly) evil/ a sleeper agent? please tell me your thoughts im very curious about this.

Could be Dern's character is too extreme (too violent or "by any means nessasary" or a dick to Finn because he used to be FO).
I doubt Poe is evil, that seems like a lot for the remaining two films to deal with along with the main conflicts.

Was Poe tortured on Starkiller or the Finalizer?
I know Kylo Ren and Hux get this a lot because they're villains and villains are more likely perpetrators when it comes to outright noncon fic but do you think it can fit with their actual canon characters too? Like how Kylo Ren breaking into Poe and Rey's mind has been likened to a rape analogy.
My heart says no, but my head says...possibly.
For me, Hux would probably be too focused on what is necessary. Torturing someone may be necessary. Rape is more personal. I could maybe see him ordering someone else to do it as a last resort breaking of a prisoner, but idk, I can't see him doing it himself.
Kylo though, though I love him I could see it happening. Firstly, I'm guessing getting shipped off to Jedi school at young age where you're taught to deny your emotions means he probably didn't get a sex talk, much less a consent talk. Of course, if you can see into people's heads you don't really need the sex talk. But if you're a horny, awkward (and possibly creepy loner) teenager who can influence people to do what you want you REALLY should have had a consent talk. Also, he's barely in control of his base emotions so I could see him being so lost in desire and the pleasure that he wouldn't really notice if the object of his attentions wasn't down for it too. That being said, the film and the adult novel do try to make clear that he has a sense of decency and morality, however warped. Maybe it's a line he wouldn't cross.

i just realized i don't want my AO3 username associated with some works. my courtesy gets the better of me though, i end up kudoing anything i like (while logged in, probably shouldn't have).
they're great and amazing fics but i often separate my kink and interests from my social media life and friend interaction. i've got a fear someday someone's going to dig into the kudos of a fic and use it against me. considering the current fandom climate, some kinks and pairings can guarantee you ostracizing.
anyway enough rambling from me

BB-8 is the only character I haven't seen anything other than pure love for. Is a little round droid of uncertain gender the savior we have been waiting for?
