SW itself isn't super consistent about it's special names for everyday things.
There was a post earlier in the discussion thread where someone was upset about tater tots being mentioned in a fic though. So I guess as long as it's within reason?
All in all, I also rec Wookiepedia if you are unsure about something.
I think I mentioned earlier that I was annoyed that plastic was "formplast" but chocolate was still chocolate. I don't know if I was that anon? I mean, that doesn't annoy me very much, it's just a "You could have thought about this more!" pet peeve I have.
oh I remember that and I think it might have been the same discussion thread tbh. Overall, it's best not to think about it too much. Anyone who gets on someone's case for saying plastic vs formplast (or shower instead of sonic shower) is being incredibly unreasonable.
iirc from old canon, chocolate was like the ONE THING that crossed over from our world to star wars. timothy zahn introduced "hot chocolate" as an exotic drink that luke liked. heir to the empire, like 1992.
