Someway, somehow, Leia Organa-Solo finds a young boy at the doorstep of her offices on Hosnian Prime. Or her home. Or someplace that a young scared woman knows where she happens to be, however temporarily.

An unwed mother with a child who is not safe with her. Who needs to be kept away from his father at any cost.

The boy who in one lifetime becomes Armitage Hux gets taken in by the Organa-Solo family and unofficially adopted.

Story can be how he meets Leia (++ and Ben, I would love for him to meet Leia and Ben together) or it can be later when Leia finds out his innate ability at excelling with military strategy. Sibling rivalry and friendship would be great.

If or when Leia sees Brendol Hux in person, or a really vivid photo of him, she knows she needs to keep them apart.

Finn finds out he's the long lost prince of a planet (cliche I know), he also finds out his parents agreed to an arranged marriage for him before he was taken by the First Order. An arranged marriage that can now mean the well being and future of his people. Finn has no other options than to go through with it, even if it means not being with the man he loves, or woman if you want to use Rey or both.

That's it. There is no easy loophole or last minute quick solution that allows Poe(/Rey) to be able to marry Finn and become royalty. Just sadness and heartbreak.

Prince Finn AUs need more internal conflict that doesn't have an easy solution, I'm sorry guys.

What if Finn doesn't join the Resistance as soon as he recovers? What if he has a strong aversion to signing up to any military organization in any capacity, even voluntarily, after his life in the First Order. He doesn't want a rank, he doesn't want to be part of a squad or do drills, he doesn't want to be ordered into battle, and in fact he doesn't want to take orders from anyone for anything. Just the idea of saying 'Yes, sir' to someone leaves a bad taste in his mouth. He thinks he might be willing, under certain circumstances, to actively fight the First Order as an individual, but that's something he's still thinking through for himself. However, with Rey away in secret Jedi training, he has nowhere and no one to go to. Normally the shoestring military organization that is the Resistance doesn't have space or budget for civilian hanger-ons, and though Leia is willing to make room for him, there are a vocal group of people against letting an ex-stormtrooper who won't fight stay around. Poe proposes they get fake married so Finn can stick around as Commander Dameron's spouse until he figures out what he wants to do with his life. Of course Poe is hopelessly in love with Finn

so, Hux is a married man. His spouse (anon favors an older man, someone maybe Brendol Hux is friends with) is severely abusive when he is around. And Hux's husband has just taken a position aboard the Finalizer.

I love cultureshock explanation fics where Finn, who's only ever had exposure to one culture, has a lot of questions about the default humanoid culture he observes around the Resistance base and Poe answers his questions as impartially and thoroughly as he can. But what if in addition to quizzing Poe, Finn finds that sometimes the best answers come from the more alien culutres, people who had to go through the same process of studying and intepreting the culture as Finn is now. So Finn might have lunch with Admiral Ackbar or L'ulo and ask what he thinks is a straightforward practical question, but tends to shock humans such as 'I understand there's different appropriate levels of hugs or other other display of friendliness, 'bear hug' or the one armed hug or a slap on the arm, for a given friendship or social circumstance, but where's the decoder ring? I thought people in the Republic hugged everyone all the time' and the alien will say 'Humans are weird about that and it varies from system to system. I might still have the spreadsheet I made when I was younger.'

Ben Solo doesn't kill the other students at the Jedi Academy.

Instead, he waits until he's of legal age. Then he pays a visit to one of the galaxy's largest news outlets and announces that he's quitting the Jedi, that he hates it there, and provides some details on his past history before vanishing.

Hux gets captured by the Resistance or Republic and has been starved and tortured from the beginning of his captivity. Try as they may he won't divulge any information on anything or anyone.

After a length of time he's subjected to electric shock torture, which for a while is just as ineffective. But days later, amped up voltage, build up of torture, exhaustion, dehydration and malnutrition, he mentally breaks down and becomes a blubbering mess.

The sequence of events of the torture is near identical to his (re)conditioning of one of the first models for the FO. It releases a floodgate of memories from his childhood and Academy days.

+ Republic issues footage of the torture and breakdown across all outlets. But FO spins it as how malicious Republic is to their great hero. Republic issues counter-statement that FO abuses children.

Most First Order officers have conservative ideas about sexuality. I've already seen some "we're faking a relationship and really fall in love".

Because I haven't seen any marriage tropes with ~~my two favorite losers~~my OTP yet.

Arranged marriage - The Resistance offers Poe's hand (and other parts) in marriage to Hux as to help secure a peace treaty with the FO.

Accidentally married - they end up taking part in a ritual on some distant alien planet and didn't read the fine print. Bonus for physical side effects like sensing each other thoughts/emotions or experiencing pain when separated.

Fake married - they're forced to work together undercover to escape a mutual enemy.

Secret marriage – they were young and stupid and got hitched in Space Vegas during leave from the Academy. It all comes out years later.

These are just suggestions, feel free to use any of these or a completely different marriage trope.

RTYI, particularly the secret marriage bit, Marc's All's Fair in Love and War is about Poe and Hux being married and no one knows about it.
