I was in the shower when I realized that holy shit, a Harry Potter/Mary Poppins crossover would be AMAZING (Poppins in Azkaban for repeatedly violating the Statute of Secrecy!). But what other crossovers are out there that just "click" like that? Are there works that are improved if viewed as part of a particular universe? Would some miserable characters be a happier fit in another world? Could a happy story turn horribly dark with the inclusion of a single feature from another?

It's official: the Star Trek movie coming out in July has a canon gay character, Lt. Sulu.
Not to bring up old blood between the two, butthis makes me wonder: do you think Star Wars' sequel trilogy will follow through with Abrams' claims of a gay character? I'm really curious as to if and how that'll be played out in Star Wars; obiously SW and ST are very different, but I'm curious if (and only if a "gay character" is introduced) the reaction to the news will be handled in the SW fandom similar to how it'll be handled in the ST fandom.

Like using one of the Tumblr "filters" to block out rape and slave fills? I don't know if there is a certain way to do so here. On AO3 I just use "-rape" in the search bar, but there are quite a few here and seeing them makes me super uncomfortable. Is there like a Chrome app to do so or something fandom specific or site specific?

Since the meme is kinda dead lately, lets talk about something controversial to stir up interest! Rape play, pretending to rape/be raped by your partner!
If it's not tagged as roleplay beforehand, should it be tagged for rape/noncon? Should it ALWAYS be tagged as roleplay? Should it be considered dubcon, since consent, from the perspective of the reader, is dubious?

I personally think it should be tagged as though it were actual rape, for the folks who blacklist related terms and might be triggered, despite there being consent.

There are so many movies this year coming, that I am currently seriously pondering signing up for a subscription of a movie flatrate at my loval theatre! 12 month for 270 EUR...considering how expensive tickets are nowadays, even if i only watch 2 movies a month, that subscription would already pay off...

I know the meme is a bit dead now but I'be been away on vacation for 2 months and just saw the new trailer, any thoughts on it? I'm hoping it's good, if only to bring some life back into fandom.

I was talking with some of my friends who also follow this fandom, and I mentioned that I normally filter out the Trans stories, it's something I don't like merely because I found a now-deleted tumblr page that fetishized trans characters and that blurred the lines between representation and turn-on for me, so I squicked my way out of there. She proceeded to call me transphobic over that.

Much like dub-con or suicide fics, I find certain topics too uncomfortable to read, even if the intention isn't necessarily 'bad' I personally avoid those topics.

I was wondering from the trans community or even the non-binary community, is it hypocritical that I, a lesbian, or further, that I, a grey-sexual lesbian, find certain LGBT topics or LGBT tropes uncomfortable? I'm a StormPilot fan, not a JediStormPilot fan, and I just find the topic... unappealing I guess?

For me, I only read Slash or Gen fics, I HATE how a majority of the fandoms I live in portray lesbian characters. I guess the language in the language pisses me off (cunt this or pussy that) the words are just so blah or unoriginal, but I'm saying "I hate Trans!Poe or other trans characters!" I just don't like to read it.

Does that make sense?

I know the mods talked about doing a poll to see if prompts for the other films would be allowed, but it's been two months since so I don't think that's happening anymore. The main Star Wars kinkmeme isn't that much more active than this and even then most of the prompts seem to be prequel based. I'm kind of wondering what will happen with the kinkmemes with Rogue One and the later films coming up. Are people going to move to the main meme (I don't think there is even an active mod there anymore)? New meme for Rogue One? Episodes VIII and IX?

What do you think will happen?

I've just been reading through prompts for inspiration and it has come to my attention that some of the kinks I just don't know what they mean. One that stands out is the term "gaslighting" but there have been others too.

On tumblr, anons started harassing some sub Kylo people for their portrayal of him, so the sub Kylo people rallied around the harassed. It took approximately .07 seconds before the support devolved into bitching about sub Hux in THE EXACT SAME WAY THEY HAD JUST BEEN BITCHED AT ABOUT SUB KYLO. Fucking kill me.

idk why people insist on having hux use phrases like "sweetie" or "darling" or "my love" outside of a crack story. i just don't see him as being the pet name type, even if he were in a romantic relationship. of course these are just my personal opinions filtered through my worldview but it kind of takes me out of the fic.

I was wondering if anyone recalled seeing a fic either here or on AO3 featuring Kylo and Phasma. It's basically gen (maybe with subtext). I think Kylo accidentally sees Phasma with her helmet and/or uniform off, and he tries to reach out to her but she rejects him.
