People who are still pretending that the current mass of trans headcanons everywhere is anything other than the newest shiny popular fetish are ridiculous tbh.
NAYRT: The way I see it, there's only two reasons to make a character trans in a fan work; to explore an established character in a new way with minimal changes to canon, or for the erotic appeal. Otherwise, you'd may as well just make the character the gender they present as. However, I willingly admit my own interest in trans fics is entirely kink-based, and is closely related to my enjoyment of crossdressing fics. IRL, I couldn't care less about other people's genitals, as they're unlikely to have an impact on my life.
