For this meme, I have … nine in progress. That's probably not very good?
I think I'll post a few of them once I've cleaned them up. But the others need a lot more work and I might never get to them. They're just not very high priority, and pretty self-indulgent otherwise.
There's one I never finished because I got bored to tears with it. I had a few scenes in mind as I read the prompt but I hated writing the filler (so, like everything between the few scenes I had in mind). I don't think OP cares anymore, anyway.
I promised one or two other fics and I never got around to write them.
There are a few prompts I responded to with questions about what the OP wanted or "OMG I want to write this," but I never got around to 'em. I don't think people are terribly upset by this on the kinkmeme.
Three. One I just abandoned because nobody seemed to like it, one has a small group of ppl who appreciate it and I'm finishing it slowly but I am goddamned DETERMINED to finish it, and one is a side thing I'm toying with when I feel like it.
Phew, okay, first up, I never post or even let an OP know I'm working on a fill until it's completely finished, because I am super-liable to drop something that doesn't cooperate after some tentative poking. I have one fill with about ~3k that's about a third to a half done, depending on how it plays out. It... may... end up finished but it's more about cool ideas (and stealthily about D/s issues I have OPINIONS about), rather than, say, a rare-pair, which would motivate me harder through scarcity.
I have ~1k of a fic I'm definitely going to finish because the prompt was amazing and I'd absolutely cross-post it (rule!63 + rare-pair ftw). It will probably take a while, interest in the kinkmeme (and feedback) is slower thus so am I.
I have four prompts I've dabbled with and discarded because I couldn't get them to work. Another five or so prompts I've saved the link to, but only maybe two of them I could seriously see my self finishing any time soon. I just love cool prompts so much, but I know from experience that they don't always cooperate :(
Three so far. One I'm honestly not sure I'll finish because it's not my usual stuff and there's not been much interest in it. The other two I will I just haven't had the time lately. I try not to have too many long fill going so that I don't have to keep people waiting, it's the same reason that I don't promise anything on a potential fill. I've also got 5 one shots in progress on my computer.
I've had two wip, post as I go along fics. One I did finish after RL got in the way which may have been... a two week wait. I knew I was going to be delayed, should have told the OP that I had a busy two weeks coming up.
Currently working on my second wip, delayed once again by not having enough time to sit and write. This time I did say there was going to be a delay.
I am best to not mention I'm not going to post a story. Twice I have said it, and not failed it (above wip) but other times I have alluded to interest by asking questions and not doing a bloody thing.
Still have several ideas bumping around for other prompts. Hope to get them done within the month as these ones shouldn't be too long.
Just one unfinished. Honestly my motivation is super low--no feedback! And I know everyone feels the same, it seems like no one says anything anymore. I see great fics all the time where I'm one of like three commenters? And it will have hundreds of hits? It's messed up.
I still feedback when I see something I like and lurk around the fills page/flat view of the current round. However I am way less likely to fill, especially anything from earlier rounds, as it goes almost completely unnoticed. Basically, if I'm not going to cross-post a fill, there's not much point to writing it at all. A lot of OPs have moved on, too.
Kinkmemes fill a very particular niche in fandom. The culture's pretty unique, as is the pace, as is the eventual drop in interest. Kinkmemes are butterflies, shiny and pretty and liable to drop dead soon after mating... I feel like this metaphor got away from me, but in a cool way. The point is, kinkmemes generate a lot of content, fast, and then die off and that's only to be expected, but still kind of melancholy.
Just my two cents, but the drop in feedback on meme hasn't much affected my motivation. I use the kinkmeme primarily for inspiration, and after a prompt catches my eye, it isn't any different from writing fic based off of my own ideas. At that point, it mostly comes down to my own determination to finish. The slowing down doesn't really affect me either, since I've saved lots of prompts from past rounds. Of course, that's just me - other people seem to have quite different experiences.
How many people are still active on this kinkmeme?
As a migratory bird with a few mainstay fandoms (that are not Star Wars), I am feeling that feel right before I completely lose interest in something. After 1 WIP that I have already mostly finished writing, and just need to do some illustrations for, I think I'll be done with tfa for a while.
And the next movie could either make me jump back in again, or kill it completely(Thor 2 killed any interest in Thor for me).
All in all, tfa had 1 movie, and a whole bunch of extra supporting materials that average fans won't even bother to buy. Too small a basis to drag out long?
