No. JJ Abrams has said he saw the name Hux in a graveyard and wanted to use the name for a tragic character. I really pity how deluded Hux fans like you are, actually thinking it'd be false info, really? He's a fascist side character in the wrong side of a war. Get real.

This might be a dumb question, but how is it pronounced? I've never heard this name before so I'm not even sure if I'm reading it correctly. It's bringing me flashbacks of Harry Potter names before the movies came out, haha.

Anyway, I'm looking at it going: Are-meh-taj (Taj like Taj Mahal).

So is that close?

I've also gotten used to reading fics with Brendol Hux Jr as the full name but Hux just goes by Hux.

Ar-muh-tij. Slight emphasis on the first syllable and the last syllable rhymes with "ridge". At least that's how you pronounce it in the UK.

I'm just amused at all the who fangirls going all teary eyed and complain because they sooooo wanted "Elan" to be canon.
Good thing it's not. I hate that fic and I hate that name. (And just think of all the legal bullshit this could cause.)

Elan is so hilarious to me because it's the French word for moose or elk. It makes me just imagine Hux with antlers eating grass in a cold afternoon in Alaska.

personally, I haven't seen anyone who wanted or genuinely thought Elan would be Hux's canon name--more like, people who thought/hoped his first name wouldn't be revealed in canon, so they would be free to imagine whatever they wanted. (seriously, what's with all the hate on CWU/CWU fans? I'm not a big fan of the series myself--it's too much of a time commitment to read an ongoing fic of that length--but, like, I don't feel the need to insult the people who really enjoy it.)

I love Hux as a character and I like to read fanfic about him but I'm glad he has a silly pompous name - I don't understand why the fandom complained about it? Hux isn't cool, he's an asshole with a broom up his butt. The more I read headcanons about him the more I want to write fic when he's a total loser tbh.

I think the one thing cool about Hux right now, other than his actor is cute, is that we still know very little about him. His screen time was like how many minutes?

So we could take whatever character we want from our own heads, and make him Hux. So Hux is as cool, dorky, a winner, a loser as the writers want.

Once he is more fleshed out, we might even see a drop in him getting written.
