When principal photography for added/changed scenes starts it will be interesting to see which actors are involved.
They don't even have to make him openly gay, they only need to not deny the possibility and I'm taking it on board wholesale.
People really ran with the fact that he did sanitation at Starkiller and assumed that was all he did. I imagined the First Order assigns people on some sort of rotational order but it's nicer (and very romantic) to think the "lowly floor sweeper" ends up a hero.

I don't think there's gonna be any massive changes to the original script, just standard last minute tweaks. Disney probably just figured out that saying "we love our fans so much that we're making the movie more about what they want" sounds better than "holy shit, look how much money we made releasing TFA at Christmas, we should make December the release date for all our Star Wars movies!"
A lot of snow here right now, but I'm semi-tempted to venture out since I didn't really stock up on items beforehand. Trying to fight that urge though.

Yup, plus keeping Star Wars in December means they aren't potentially eatting into the profits of their Marvel summer blockbusters.

Since Disney has refused to do this with Steve Rogers being bisexual, despite fan response, media articles about it, and even some of the actors agreeing with the possibility, I highly doubt it would happen with Poe. They're not going to not deny the possibility for a major blockbuster movie.

But, really, I think they're just going to give Poe a bit more screentime since I don't think anyone at Disney expected such a huge fan response to him. They must be glad they didn't kill him off in TFA like they originally planned.
Based on the way they've handled potential queer characters in the Marvel movies, I don't hold out hope that they'd make one of the new trio gay. Especially since the latest rumors are that one or two of the new female characters for VIII are supposed to be love interests.

tbh I'd love some angst, but it'd have to be a really well written dark or twisted story for me to find it believable.
I think originally the next episode was meant to focus more on Luke, but with such positive audience response to the new trio they're rewriting the next movie to put more focus on all of them (likely especially Poe)

Shows, books and movies have done this before and it screams of "look how progressive we are having a supposedly queer character but never mentioning that in canon!"
Showing an openly gay character doesn't have to mean a big, dramatic reveal scene. It's not that difficult to throw in a line or small offhanded scene indicating they're gay.
