I'm actually a new poster for the discussion forum. The only other actual response I've made here was in the professions discussion. So no I'm not back? ...Alright!
(It would have been funnier if you said "And so you're back from outer space," but that would have been inaccurate as well)

We get it, you don't like H/Hr. That wank is decades old, so can we stop?

OMG, you mentioned the Teen Wolf fandom, lol! I don't think any fandom right now is doing the most like they're doing.

I wouldn't say this kinkmeme has the worst. I've definitely seen a lot worse, like a lot way worse. So, I think the worst is crazy hyperbole.
As for a nice one the SNK kinkmeme was pretty nice. I haven't visited in a bit, but I use to be there all the time, and it was just a haven of brilliant prompts and stories, and pretty nice people.
I think the APH one was nice, however I never went in the discussion section, and I can see that part getting crazy and being not so nice.

Telling them to have Finn poison the cat and turning it into bestiality in the comments. If that was the prompt, fine, whatever, I'm scrolling just like any other Millicent prompt, but doing that in comments because you don't like the fanon trope is not on.

Is it? I didn't get that from the context at all. It makes no sense.

THIS!
I don't mind this trope, and I kind of like reading it. However, I know it's not representative.
The people who usually whine about how they hate it whine about it everywhere, like in places where people aren't even talking about it, and they almost always are condescending to everyone. It almost feels kind of kink-shame-y.

Re: Best Smut

(Anonymous) 2016-02-29 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I’ve given this question a lot of consideration (mostly as someone who also seeks to write better smut). So here's a bunch of stuff on writing smut, rather than specific recs. I hope this vaguely conincides with what you're after.

For me personally, I have this kind of weird meta-kink, where I don’t care what the characters are doing so long as they are really, really into it. It’s hot when characters are strongly affected by the sex, regardless of how it plays out.

Also having an idea of what a character is getting out of a kink (or even plain sex) is useful. Is it about control? Is it about trust and/or vulnerability? Is anyone kinking on the danger? Is it a straightforward sensual pleasure thing? It's easier to set up a goal/achievement arc using these questions and that can be quite cathartic, narratively.

Similarly, to me the anatomy and logistics are less important than the minor details used to convey arousal. What characters are doing with their junk is less interesting to me than character A’s stuttering breath, or involuntary noise or racing pulse. Or the way those things hit character B such that they shiver or need to wet their suddenly dry lips. I mean, these are trite examples, but hopefully they get my point across.

Finally, the tone of the sex matters too, I think. Is it sweet and happy such that the characters are tripping each other into bed and laughing? Is it rough and adversarial with more teeth and snarling and smirking? Somewhere in between? Are the characters nervous or confident?

Anyway, this is the most I've ever written on the topic of smut (and I'm very glad to be doing so anon). I don't know if this helps at all, and I'm really curious about others' opinions on this matter.

Indeed it would be incredibly tedious.
Actually good things may come out of it. If all the people complaining about wank and/or announcing their intentions to leave, actually leave, maybe we'll have less of that.

I didn't even realize there were people complaining about logged in posting. You're right it's ridiculous if people are complaining about logged in posting.

However, I feel like this is just as a platform to be just like those other people who are all trying to make post about leaving in the most dramatic fashion.

Appreciation Discussion/What are your favorite things about this meme?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-29 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
I was actually wondering what are people favorite things about the kink meme so far?

What's something about this kink meme that you appreciate the most?

What draws you to this meme specifically?

I actually wanted to thank the Mod (I believe it's only one mod, but correct me if I'm wrong) for creating a "Force Awakens" specific kink meme. One of my personal favorite things and something I appreciate about this meme is that it's mainly about the characters in this film specifically.

finding character voice

(Anonymous) 2016-02-29 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
I really like Phasma, but I don't like it when she's written sounding like Data. She doesn't have much dialogue, but she doesn't sound like that.

I'm trying to find a unique voice for my Phasma right now; the story I'm working on is really Phasma-centric, and there's a lot I want to say with Phasma that I'm puzzling out. I'm really fond of characters who code-switch, and I have a good idea of what Phasma sounds like when she's kicking ass but I'm still trying to pin down who she is when she's at home, so to speak.

What's your process for character voice?

I like that almost all my prompts were filled on here. Usually on other kink memes I do a lot of filling, but my prompts don't get filled. But here I fill and and have prompts that get filled.
I guess it may be a bit silly because of the whole better to give than receive deal, but it kind of makes me feel good to have that kind of balance.

Here's an article on Star Wars' music relating it to its characters. I found it pretty interesting but I didn't understand everything. Apparently, Finn doesn't have a theme that is its own track yet?
