Yeah, that's why when people say this fandom is crazy with ships. It makes no sense. They are nowhere near as crazy as it was with Harry Potter (that Ron/Hermione and Harry/Hermione stuff was legit crazy) or how it currently is with Teen Wolf (Stydia shippers are so much like Harry/Hermione shippers, it's crazy) So TFA has always felt really nice and mild in comparison.
It's true that TFA is nowhere near HP's level. But when you consider that HP was released over such an extended period, with years between canon updates, and a lot of fans grew up with it, then it's kind of impressive that TFA (not Star Wars in general but just TFA) already has this much ship wank since it's literally two months old.
NAYRT That's sort of true, but kind of ignores the fact that HP started with the main characters about 11 years old, and TFA has adult MCs from the top of the story. Plus the differences in how internet fandom worked then versus now.
