the more money the producers make from a movie, the more likely they will more more of the same!
and i definitely want moaaaaaaaaaaaar of the new SW trilogy :D
and yes, i do the same with fics, since that horrific event 20 years ago, when i first joined online fic fandom.
there was a great archive for Jarod/ms Parker (the old show the pretender), and it was running great, and i was young, and never thought about saving anything offline.
one day, the archivist simply took the entire archive off the net, without warning or anything.
i couldnt save a single thing.
20 years, and i am still traumatized by that thing.
since then, no matter what i find online, fics or anything else, i am saving.
i must have 60,000 fics across my fandoms since then on harddrive.

we have been lucky so far, this winter being very mild.
and its really a cute idea, with the scarves, didnt think, i saw that anywhere!
most stuff is either office supplies and staples or plastic stuff like action figures, lightsabres and cups..

this must be really different sections of fandom lj, that we were in, coz i have been on lj for 15 years, and i never saw the comments counts the way you do!?
in my particular fandoms, lots of comments to fics just meant, you and the author or the other readers we chatting with each other...

wow, ahh how strange, i mean, i havent been active in fandom for the longest time, but i have been there since ao3 went online, and i never thought that kudos were more valuable to the authors than the comments.
i always thought, the other way round was the way, it works?
(not that one is "better" than the other, just strange.
doesnt mean one approach to judging fics is better than the other, just different from the spaces i am coming from. )

I find their lack of Domhnall Gleeson porn disturbing.
Reading large amounts of text on screen is a major migraine trigger for me so I can't do e-books. It's driving me nuts, because I've been a fan of Alan Dean Foster since the 80's and the Spellsinger series.
Also, I don't mind spending $12 on a novel, but if I do, it damn well better be a physical book.

When I look for fics to read, I go by kudos because more people leave kudos than comments. A lot of comments doesn't necessarily mean a lot of people read the fic. 50 comments could just be the author and their friends talking back and forth, not 50 different reviews. 50 kudos means 50 different people read and liked the fic.
As an author, I definitely prefer kudos over comments. Back in the LJ days, I preferred having my fics show up on rec lists rather than receive comments. But I personally don't like comments because I feel obligated to respond and sometimes I really don't want to.

There was an excellent prompt on round 2 (I think?) that I've been trying to write, but I can't seem to nail down characterizations. RPF is hard.

and the revelation that he IS the son of leia and han?
nephew of luke, grandson of anakin??
it hits so many buttons since the EU novels 25 years ago, that i started to read (how many of them had jacen or jaina, or ben skywalker turned dark..!)
how many fanfics did i read in my younger days, when luke, or leia turned to vaders and emperor palpatines dark side`=??
TOO FUCING MANY, omg and i still love kylo and hux best, when either of them is killing the other.
and i like the occasional redemption fic, but most of the time, i think, they should be both totally and utterly unredeemable.
either win for the first order, or die trying.
there is literally no excuse to suddenly turn to the light side again, just coz you killed trillions and an entire star systems, or just kill your daddy.
just thinking hux defecting out of love for kylo is giving me the creeps XD
(still doesnt stop me from reading those fics sometimes, but its still utterly shit.)
