Nobody outranks him in my heart, hence Ears 1.

Multi-part fills, how?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-31 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
How should they be posted? each part as individual reply to the prompt or first part as reply to prompt and the rest as replies to the first part? What's the preferred method?

ahhh! thank you so much! I had had terrible luck <3

I think there's no preferred method. Both options seem fine to me.

Canon

(Anonymous) 2016-03-31 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
So with the new film, and the old books becoming moot, what materials are now considered canon now for our dear galaxy far far away?

Re: Multi-part fills, how?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-31 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The cleanest-looking way is to reply the the original prompt and then reply to each consecutive reply so that they all expand when you open the thread.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-31 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure the movies (obviously) and the animated shows? I remember something about Rebels being canon at least. The novelisations and prequel books, probably. Not sure about any comic tie-ins, though.

Re: Multi-part fills, how?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-31 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
When I multi-parts fill I tend to reply to the original prompt, largely because I don't like who the text boxes get squished up on subsequent reply threads and I think it's easier to distinguish fill boxes if they're all on the same left alignment indentation. However, this is purely a stylistic choice and there is no right or wrong answer. Go with your heart.

DA

Pretty sure Clone Wars, too

Gray Jedi, Rey (possible redeemed Kylo if you want to go there).

(Anonymous) 2016-03-31 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I have been reading up on the mythology and taking into consideration the latest Rebels finale, and I feel like Rey will end up becoming a sort-of Gray Jedi.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gray_Jedi

meanings. First, it was used by Jedi and Sith to describe Force-users who walked the line between the light and dark sides of the Force without surrendering to the dark side, and second, it described Jedi who distanced themselves from the Jedi High Council and operated outside the strictures of the Jedi Code. However, those who were considered to be true Gray Jedi met both qualifications and did not belong to any particular Force tradition.

During her fight with Kylo it was obvious Rey wasn't shy to use her hate and anger to fuel her fighting style. While I don't agree with the theories saying this means Rey will go Dark Side or be tempted by the Dark Side. I do feel like she will be the prefect candidate to find a balance between the Dark and Light sides of the force.

Luke didn't exactly follow the Jedi code (forming bonds with his friends), so it wouldn't be a stretch for me to imagine them pursuing something different. he entire point of the series has been about bringing back balance. The Jedi order was far from perfect, so I don't beliefs following their ideals will bring back balance. And neither would following the Sith (or whatever Snoke is). So it makes sense that the answer will be a compromise between both.

Yes, Clone Wars and Rebels are still part of canon.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Canon

Since then, the only previously published material still considered canon are the six original trilogy/prequel trilogy films and the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series and film. Most material published after April 25—such as the Star Wars Rebels TV series and all novels beginning with A New Dawn—is also considered part of the new canon, on account of the creation of the Lucasfilm Story Group, which currently oversees continuity as a whole. Characters under the Legends banner are still available for use as needed, even if events concerning them are no longer canon.

On note of that last sentence a lot of people have pointed a lot of the new characters and plots do seem to be taking elements out of Legends, so it wouldn't shock me if we see hem bringing in more elements from the EU.

here's what we missed

we saw those photos of the costume breakdown presumably on a regulation mannequin of some kind, on whom those leather pants looked oversized and poorly fitting

and we forgot

that adam driver is huge

so he fills them out

I kinda need a whole photoshoot with this costume. Preferably in different states of undress.

Has anyone done a Kylo/Peter Steele manip yet? Asking for a friend.

Either each new part as a reply to the first part, or each new part as a reply to the previous part. NEVER each part as a separate reply to the prompt.

I once saw an essay on how it is particularly common for queer and neurodivergent kids to relate to villains and monsters, because largely it's the only people that are portrayed *like them*, that's why representation helps

I'm nowhere near evil, been through loads of abuse and do have mental illnesses and I'm queer, but I no longer hate myself and I still love and relate to villains, I love heroes too, but they're 'other people' so to speak.

It doesn't have to be self hate, it just has to be characters that make sense to you

da nearly every villain in Star Wars has been abused too tho, I tend to relate to that part

Re: Adam Driver's Stephen Colbert interview.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-01 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Every time I've seen people guess Adam Driver's ethnicity, it's almost always Jewish or Hispanic or occasionally Native American, not non-minority white guy, so it's not like people's comments on how ugly he is aren't free from racial issues themselves. I'm still mad that my first exposure to Kylo Ren was when a friend was complaining about how people liked this ugly white guy and the picture she chose to illustrate how ugly he was was one that was actually pretty flattering but where he looked really Jewish.

Something like this occurred to me not long ago. I don’t relate to villains per se (or any fictional characters really, but that’s another story), however, I find them very compelling and they’re usually my favourite part of a work.

I gradually realised that I liked when villains had traits that generally got disapproved of in society (thinking here of calculated, unemotional, disdainful, ruthless, focused, smug), but were used to make them badass and even earn them a grudging respect from the good guys. I’m not saying I have all these traits, let alone to a villainous degree, but they’re certainly relatable, and it’s nice seeing a kind of validation of them. That's also why I like some types of villains better than others.

But I partially think it’s a good writing thing. Pratchett, and others I can’t think of off the top of my head, write heroes that are more compelling than their villains. I find it’s rare, though, and people seem to put more…?effort into villains. Like: every-person hero is an every-person and makes perfect sense, but why would a villain be doing villainous things? What’s their drive? How do they work? I must focus all my attention on making them complex and coherent!
