See this is particularly weird to me given that Hux's abusive childhood is entirely a fanon creation, whereas Kylo being groomed and brainwashed by Snoke since childhood and turned into a child soldier is actually canon. This determination by some ff authors to erase or downplay Kylo's backstory to make it so Hux is the only one who can know True Suffering (and to make Kylo simply a whining spoiled child) is just ????

Stormpilot has a version of it as well, with a lot of focus on Poe getting beaten and raped so Finn can offer h/c, and rather less stuff about Finn being brainwashed since childhood to become nameless cannon fodder.

If I didn't have so many wips as it I would love writing something with Finn being Phasma second hand because she is personally training him to one day replace her.

Seconding what you said about Stormpilot. I get the appeal of Finn taking care of Poe and I love reading it, but I have noticed how little Finn's past and his own traumatic experiences come up. I mean I see a lot of Poe helping Finn recover physically after his fight with Ren, but that's it.

I guess is part of the always happy cinnamon roll image fandom has created for Finn where his military and child soldier/brainwashed past is kind of ignored.
