Having access to all of the cameras on the ship, Hux has footage of everyone - including Kylo Ren. He ends up implementing the footage he finds of Kylo into his personal holoprojector. Kylo ends up walking in on Hux and finding his hologram image taking its shirt off.

Everything bad in Kylo Ren's life is all Rey's fault. He's ten and his Uncle shows up with a newborn baby girl, notices wee Ben acting out with the Force around Leia's place, and suddenly Ben's kicked out of his home to go to Jedi Camp. Five years later, Baby Rey arrives at the same camp at the age of five to join the younglings, and all the instructors keep gushing about how strong she is in the Force while telling Ben he's not trying hard enough to control his anger and to go meditate on some trees and crap instead of taking part in fight training, so at 15... well. Things happened. Rey escaped the massacre and Kylo knew she would be back to screw his life up again. Then 9 years later she turns up, and his planet-sized base is destroyed. It's all Rey's fault.

Of course Snoke has been whispering in Ben's mind since birth, and the convenience of a baby cousin that keeps turning up in his life at convenient cusp moments? Snoke is not one to waste a scapegoat.

Poe/Finn Survival + Being Hunted

The First Order finally capture Finn and Poe, but instead of torturing or putting them straight to death, they drop them on a seemingly empty planet.

It doesn't take long for them to figure out that they're in fact being hunted. Finn has to put everything he ever learned to practice to keep them alive/safe from the people hunting them, and Poe uses his tactical skill and knowledge of survival to keep them alive.

+ if Hux is involved in the hunting somehow

Poe and Finn are sent on separate run-of-the-mill covert missions, seemingly low-risk stuff. One of the missions turns out to be very much NOT low-risk.

One of them gets home, the other doesn't. There is no word at all about the other one, whether he's alive, dead, captured, tortured, defected, nothing. The one who got home goes out and intends to lay waste to the whole kriffing galaxy to find the other and bring him home, whether anyone gives him permission him to go or not.

Luke can't go in exile without telling his sister what happened in person and saying goodbye to her. Even if he knows that Leia will try to make him stay, he at least owe this to her ... but to his shock she doesn't try to make him stay, instead she wants to come with him. She needs a break from everything as much as he does.

The galaxy can take care of itself without them for a while.

I am probably going to hell for this but:

Leia is the one to confront Ben on the bridge and is unfortunately killed, with a horrified Han watching on. He is obviously devistated with the loss of his wife, maybe even depressed but decides he must carry on the Resistance for her even if he has no idea to run an rebellion.

++ Leia coming on as a force ghost to guide him.

I was making the "oh no!" face for the first part of this and then you got to the force ghost part, and it was just all "give them hell, Leia!"

seconded for reunion with Han (because they didn't get any time together after their brief reunion) and also the possibility that force ghost Leia goes after their son when she's not busy being helpful/enigmatic as suits elsewhere.

Rey/Leia, they aren't related but it's still complicated

Rey (a Kenobi, for arguments' sake) admires Leia and wants to be closer to her, but decides pursuing her romantically should probably wait until after they can all process Han's death. A friendly bonding session goes awry at the base and they have an intimate encounter despite grief and personal resolutions to keep it platonic. Guiltily they struggle not to fall for each other - and yet their feelings deepen- perhaps while communicating along force bonds after Rey goes to train with Luke?

So Hux has been having a bad day (pre-canon or canon,whatever) nothing is going right and his unholy rage has been building up inside him all day,but he's kept it together,because he's an adult for fucks sake.

Then he gets tipped over the edge by something completely stupid.(Someone bumps into him,he runs out of his favorite brand of cigarettes,his mom calls asking when he's going to get married??) and he completely looses it,but instead of going on a murder spree he bursts into hysterical tears.

Finn and Poe's friendship is legendary across the galaxy. The Stormtrooper who broke through his conditioning to escape with the Resistance Pilot, both later becoming partners in crime and completing various Resistance missions together. Everyone, good and bad, knows the story of Finn and Poe.

When they're picked up by bad guys (does not have to be First Order but can be) they are recognised and their reputation is used against them. They try to make them fight each other, force them to watch each other being beaten or sexually assaulted. Everything that can be done to take advantage of their affection for each other is, until they're thrown a single blaster and told one of them has to kill the other, or they both die.

If/how they get out or not is up to anon, but OP would like no character death please!
