As long as it doesn't mean a new post at 2500, which would just lead to prompts and fills getting lost.
I don't think a prompt freeze would help, though. People will fill at the same rate, but store up all their prompts and flood the meme when it opens again, which is what happened when post 2 opened.
Definitely. It sounds like the mod has been very busy with real life. Perhaps when things slow down just a little for them they'll be able to think about taking the time to add in extra mods as well as juggling RL and all the modly work they're already doing. It would certainly pay off for them.
It also sounds like the mod is inexperienced and maybe didn't realize how big the meme would get when they started. I definitely feel for them if they thought they could handle it at first and then it just turned into a huge monster without them expecting it.
I definitely think more freezes are needed, within one post. When you freeze a post for a week and then also make a brand new one, people abandon the old post entirely to spam the new post with ideas, and all the old prompts and fills get dropped.
I'd also like to longer prompt freezes. A week really isn't that long to fill a lot of prompts. I'd suggest two weeks, but I think a lot of people would lose interest. Lose/lose, I think.
The other worry with a long freeze is it makes people think of a billion prompts and just save them in the meantime, and then when a new post opens there's a thousand prompts IMMEDIATELY. I vote more frequent short freezes instead of less frequent long freezes.
I don't think it should be by days of the week. Not everyone has Sat and Sun as weekend days (my "weekend" days are Tues and Weds, for example) and beyond that, I think timezones would cause a problem.
Maybe have the first week of each month as a prompt freeze?
As a new meme, prompt freezes can't be too regular or too long, since that can damage people's interest, especially people just discovering the meme. One week a month as a prompt freeze still leaves three other weeks for prompting, and the first seven days of every month is easy to remember.
Whatever the period that might be decided for a prompt freeze, the most important thing is pushing it as being a chance to fill prompts. Not just store up prompts until the freeze is over. The language of the prompt freeze needs to reflect that: 'prompting currently frozen' isn't enough, it needs to be something like 'prompting currently frozen, please take this time to create new fills or leave feedback for existing fills'. Or something, I'm not good at stuff like that.
Fuck it, I'm just going to say it.
