Anon, seriously, it's fiction. You're not hurting anyone, even yourself, if you consume it "irresponsibly". No need to feel guilty.

Well, if you 'consume it irresponsibly' by reading or writing fanfic on your office computer during work hours, or sit and scroll through tumblr when you're supposed to be serving customers or something else, it could get you fired. At that point it may be an addiction issue though, which is its own problem.
