Now I am, yes. If we aren't allowed to discuss anything here in case some hypersensitive soul decides that it's "wank" or "tantrums" and ends up taking it to the mods, what the fuck is the point of this place?
I generally love AUs, though I prefer roleplaying them to writing them as fics.
My #1 go to is that the Jedi are Catholic priests and there's a lot of sin. I very much enjoy the idea of Qui-Gon as a sagely older priest, Obi-Wan as his friend that's having some conflict about the lifestyle and Yoda as the tiniest, oldest old man priest.
I am also a big fan of stealing a world and dropping another canon's characters into it- not really a crossover because that implies using characters from both. I am probably going to prompt a rather long Tron Legacy crossover idea on Monday.

I miss when people just argued about whether or not something was or would become canon, because I've never needed something to be canon for me to be invested in it.
This whole "this ship is ethical" is just awful. I want content creators to be held accountable for creating diverse entertainment and representation as much as anyone else, but I'm not going to extend that to anonymous people on the internet because I'm proud that I find non-white, non-male people sexy for once.

I think they meant this post, not the entire meme.
The point of this post is to share enthusiasm for a movie we all love, and not down each other for how we happen to love it.
I say this because having a different version of the movie for the Chinese market already happened with Iron Man 3. The doctor who removes Tony Stark's magnet was apparently played by a famous Chinese actor, and his scenes were longer in the "Chinese cut". It added nothing to the plot, the scenes were awkward and not very good. It was all obviously put in to please Chinese viewers.
You could say that making Poe/Finn canon for the world minus China would just be fanservice, but the very existence of a new trilogy after VI IS fanservice.
Best case scenario would be to say "fuck you China" and have them smooching for the whole world. Except Disney needs its precious yuans, so I'll take whatever I can get.

That's entirely different than adding a gay romance in a cut scene, though. I feel like just knowing it's in a different screening would be enough for some countries to bar it, even if it didn't show up in their final version of the movie.
Marvel also makes way more money in China than TFA did, so it made sense for them to release an extended up specifically for that market. It wouldn't make sense for them to do that for Star Wars.

As far as I know Basic is always the human language in which the story is told. Watching the movies in English: Basic = English, watching in the movies in Spanish: Basic = Spanish.

Exactly. English is just used in the movies to represent the common language ("Basic", aka Galactic Standard), which is the language that is most used in the galaxy.
Kind of like LOTR, and English representing Westron. In Spanish countries where the movie is dubbed, Spanish represents Basic.
I guess OP could just make up a dialect or language from a particular planet if they really want, and use Spanish to represent it.

I think there's a big difference between saying something grosses you out personally, and saying a kink is disgusting. Original anon might be expressing their dislike in pretty strong terms, but they're not making any specific statement or passing judgement on the people who do like it.
Kinkshaming is, in my understanding, making someone feel like shit for liking what they like, not expressing dislike for a specific kink. Perhaps this comment made some people who like a/b/o uncomfortable, which is not a good thing, but I think a kink-related space where people can only discuss things in the affirmative, with no discussion of limits or squicks allowed, is probably not a very healthy space.

Star Wars is the only fandom where humiliation in a D/s situation doesn't automatically turn me off. Like, it's a totally legit kink and people should like what they like, but usually humiliation/name-calling/etc is a thing I avoid.

You're all acting like China would ban it when China has independent gay cinema of its own. It's more like Russia that would outright ban it. If we're going o be xenophobic and say fuck you to other countries, let's at least aim our hatred accurately.
