I dunno man but somebody posted a smoking!kink fill and holy shit it did things to me I never knew I needed.

I've discovered I have a thing for a certain type of objectification - where something sexual is going on but it's treated clinically or nonchalantly, and the objectified person is talked about as if they're not there.

"Lover" grosses me out because it's somehow too graphic and too poetic at the same time. It screams "I FUCK THIS PERSON" while at the same time sounding really archaic.
Anyone around who either has the Visual Dictionary or has read Before the Awakening? Does either give an age for how old Poe was when he became a Commander in the New Republic Fleet? Wookiepedia doesn't have one and I'm fine making something up, but don't want to contradict canon if we have it.

I have discovered that it's easier to name things that aren't my kinks than are.

That thing where there's a power imbalance that the character with more power would never take advantage of, but the character with less power doesn't know that, so they react with a mix of anger, resignation, and fear until everything gets sorted out.

That was a creepy one that popped up for me in a previous fandom. I'd be horrified to actually be involved in a situation like that, but abuse of power actually turning the recipient on with shame was a big one of those oh no, why do I like that moments.

You're not the only one! I haven't filled any prompts yet. I used to write a lot, but also as part of a team, and I find it difficult to finish something I'm happy with on my own. I've prompted three times; one of them was filled, I am genuinely happy with it and made sure to thank the writer.
I'm not even a filler yet and this burns me! I'd like to see more feedback on fills in general.
I feel like I shouldn't like the "Finn doesn't know how to do emotions" fics/prompts as much as I do, but they really speak to me as someone who doesn't know how to do emotions and whose favorite character is Finn/who related to Finn pretty hard. (I also noticed that one of the fics I was working on kind of went along this route, and now I'm nervous to finish and post it because I've seen people complaining about this type of characterization.)

I've definitely participated in memes though where I only read/prompted and I see nothing wrong with that. I actually assume that's most people who visit a kink meme. I mean if people were even doing a 3:1 things would look very different.
I think its cool that people who don't write fics themselves have a chance to be a part of the process. Whenever people complain that prompters should be filling more I feel like they've missed the point. This isn't a fic exchange, its an idea generator.

Awww, don't be nervous about finishing your fic. I've seen a few people complain about that characterisation too, but only because it's so popular, and when a headcanon gets popular the backlash is inevitable. But its popularity means there are lots of people who feel the same as you do about it.
If nothing else, it sounds like it might be really rewarding to finish the fic, since you identify with that aspect of Finn, even if you don't post it publicly. But I'm sure if you *do* post it, you'll find lots of people enjoy it. ^___^

It's not a Star Wars specific thing, but I hate fics that frequently refer to characters as the younger/older man, the dark haired man, the blue-eyed man, the former pilot/stormtrooper/scavenger, etc.
Unless you're introducing a character for the first time or writing from the POV of a character who does not know someone's name and needs to use an epithet, it makes me so irritated. More often than not, over-usage will make me stop reading the fic out of sheer annoyance.
