Agreed that people shouldn't have to be white or pass as white to get well-rounded and/or leading roles. Hollywood remains gross over this.
No offense taken at all. I just don't think you can talk about relationships in general without considering the genders of people involved when the discussion is about what types of relationships are more socially accepted and valued, because the context is really not the same, and the implications become different as well.
Like, I really want to see more stories about female characters where romance is just not an issue and never comes up at all, and if they went in that direction with Rey I would be incredibly happy. But "why does there always have to be a romance" is not a criticism I'd make of a piece of media that had a same gender relationship (or for that matter positively portrayed interracial relationship), because those romantic relationships are also devalued and underrepresented.

I think it's affected the ABC shows more than the Netflix shows. Season 1 of Agent Carter suffered from some set and special effects aspects and I've heard the same of AoS.
I wonder if Netflix covers some of the costs because most of their shows are pretty high-quality.

I said I have no problem with POC acting in roles that were originally written for white people. Such as the Llewyn Davis movie. Yes, it would have been preferable if they had written the role specifically for a Latino actor, but they didn't. If they had cast a black actor, would you have had a problem with it? If not, then I fail to see what the problem is in having Oscar Isaac cast in the movie.

I was coming from a place where gender is immaterial, but I realize that's not reflective of reality and that different combinations of genders still carry differing stigma. Again I apologize.

Yeah, agreed. Bringing attention to it is important, but seeing it repeated, even if it was explaining what was said, it not necessary.
That seems like a really long timeframe for a big bang. Ten months between sign ups and the due date? I expect a lot of people will sign up and end up dropping out.

I can't remember how long the old successful big bangs on LJ were, but ten months doesn't sound crazy to me. Wasn't six to ten months normal? It takes that long to write 50k+ for a lot of people.
Anyone know if there's a way to blacklist things on dreamwidth? Sort of like tumblr savior?
