No offense taken at all. I just don't think you can talk about relationships in general without considering the genders of people involved when the discussion is about what types of relationships are more socially accepted and valued, because the context is really not the same, and the implications become different as well.

Like, I really want to see more stories about female characters where romance is just not an issue and never comes up at all, and if they went in that direction with Rey I would be incredibly happy. But "why does there always have to be a romance" is not a criticism I'd make of a piece of media that had a same gender relationship (or for that matter positively portrayed interracial relationship), because those romantic relationships are also devalued and underrepresented.

Not trying to browbeat you, btw, just explaining where I'm coming from.
