Umm, I think it's impossible to watch all the TFA interviews and appearances, there's got to be weeks and weeks of solid viewing's worth at this point.
I get that this means a lot to you, to believe that he's serious, but Oscar is reeeeally deadpan in his humour. He says outrageous (usually flirtatious and smutty) stuff with a completely straight face, that's just his thing. Obviously I don't know his brain, so maybe there is a chance that he's completely serious, but from his past history of behaviour in interviews it very much reads as yet another Oscar joke.

Not really new, no. It's just the turnaround for this one was so unbelievably fast. Like, I've seen all this stuff happen before in other fandoms. But this shit went through the cycle of 'this could be canon' to 'this is canon' to 'if you don't think this is canon then you're [insert gross insults here] because there's ~proof~' in a matter of days. Days. And I'm in Europe, so I got it a day earlier. I don't think it took the predominantly US Tumblr users in the tags a full 24 hours to speed through those stages of wank. It's not even just one or two people, but a constant repetitive stream of the same posts over and over. It didn't even take a full week before I felt like I'd been seeing those posts for months on end. So yeah, I'd still say the fandom has no chill - it's been a very fast and very intense love affair, and the wank and anger and ship wars went from 0 to 60 overnight.

I would honestly have preferred they cast other Latino people for the side characters playing his relatives. I also honestly would prefer people write more roles where people who can pass don't HAVE to pass. Are you honestly saying passing is a good thing?
Considering Daredevil and Jessica Jones are leagues better than some of the more recent mcu movies, I don't think it's that bad of a "demotion".

It's practically a promotion, considering their long term plan to have the Luke Cage and Iron Fist series and then put together a mega series combining the main characters from all four series into one plot. It's experimental tv at its finest, and it's a hell of a lot more exciting than the same fucking movies over and over again.

Just to add, there will always be roles written for write people. I have no problem with those roles being taken by POC, rather than white people. It's shocking that you don't like that.

Giving the privilege of opportunity only to the lightest-skinned POCs and tricking the general public at large into thinking they're white doesn't exactly help with the cause of more visual representation for people who don't usually see themselves represented, you know? Not to mention doesn't help all darker actors at all.
Definitely. Marvel is at it's best when they're doing something different and I think giving us a view of street level characters was a good decision. I definitely appreciated that Jessica Jones was more film noa ir story about PTSD than a superhero story.
I have high hopes for Luke Cage and Iron Fist after seeing DD and JJ. Also, it's nice that the Netflix series are way more diverse than the movies.
