He can pass as white. Surely it's better he can play parts written for both white guys and Latino guys?

Or would you honestly prefer him confined solely to Latino roles, and "white roles" reserved only for white people?

I would honestly have preferred they cast other Latino people for the side characters playing his relatives. I also honestly would prefer people write more roles where people who can pass don't HAVE to pass. Are you honestly saying passing is a good thing?

Just to add, there will always be roles written for write people. I have no problem with those roles being taken by POC, rather than white people. It's shocking that you don't like that.

Roles should also change. I never said otherwise.

I said I have no problem with POC acting in roles that were originally written for white people. Such as the Llewyn Davis movie. Yes, it would have been preferable if they had written the role specifically for a Latino actor, but they didn't. If they had cast a black actor, would you have had a problem with it? If not, then I fail to see what the problem is in having Oscar Isaac cast in the movie.

Giving the privilege of opportunity only to the lightest-skinned POCs and tricking the general public at large into thinking they're white doesn't exactly help with the cause of more visual representation for people who don't usually see themselves represented, you know? Not to mention doesn't help all darker actors at all.

"Being taken"

POC rarely "take" roles from white actors. It's the opposite way around tbh (a la Emma Stone in Aloha).

This is really nitpicky. It's obvious that the OP only meant taking as in "the role of Han Solo was taken by Harrison Ford", not as in stealing a job.

Agreed that people shouldn't have to be white or pass as white to get well-rounded and/or leading roles. Hollywood remains gross over this.
