Oh my gosh, yes! I have that fic bookmarked!

Not exactly. Not everyone there is in the Sherlock fandom; quite a few are in this one. But it didn't originate in hating Sherlock.

It does now. Sherlock sucks and everyone hated the cup eyes. Universal meme fact.

I actually like it when people post fills unanon (if they feel comfortable with it, obviously) because it makes it easier to track down their other stuff if I find myself enjoying their writing. The only time it becomes an issue for me is when prompters actually request that certain authors fill their prompts, which is just uncomfortable, because I feel it puts a lot of pressure on the author. That's not something I blame the author for, though, it's more a breach of kink meme ettiquette on the prompter's part.

As for people prompting unanon, it doesn't bother me. Unless they're prompting endlessly, so them being unanon makes it more glaring that they're spamming. But you don't need someone to be logged on to know when the prompts are coming from the same few users - the same grammar, format, the same pairings and scenarios, it starts to get really obvious really quickly that they're prompting constantly.

Word.

And yes, I was one of the people there complaining about the annoying shit here. It wasn't an "attack"

People have a lot of time on their hands, don't they?

When did the Sherlock backlash start? I remember when that's all anyone talked about and that was the fandom to be in.

Nobody hates Sherlock more than Sherlock fans.

Re: kink meme veterans?

Weirdly enough, it didn't actually come from the comics. Coulson wasn't a regular Marvel comics character at the time, he was only introduced into Marvel 616-verse after his popularity in the MCU grew, and Clint/Coulson was already a huge ship before that happened.

I don't really get the ship, either. I mean, I get the whole 'pair the spare' thing, and I don't actively dislike Clint/Coulson. I'm just blown away by how MASSIVE it got, and how quickly that happened. It seems like one of those crack pairings that should have a small and devoted fanbase, but instead it dominated AO3 and kink memes alike.

Oh, but didn't you hear nonnie, apparently the TFA kinkmeme is like Fight Club: you do NOT talk about it. *eyeroll*

Maybe OP would have preferred if we did all our ranting right here, on the actual kinkmeme? That would have been much better, right?

NA

I remember people starting to hate it around season 2? Backlash is inevitable with any major fandom.

disney-kink @lj

No shame, I loved that place. I haven't been there in ages, though, so I don't know if it's even still active.

I saw your deleted comment, don't be cute.

The page long prompts and ++++ bonuses are incredibly annoying, but I think it was immature for anons to wank about it and go running to the mod to have the meme changed to their specifications. There are always annoying trends or anons on kink memes and scrolling past a long prompt is no different than scrolling past a long fill you don't intend to read.

scrolling past a long prompt is no different than scrolling past a long fill you don't intend to read.

No it isn't, you almost always have to click on a link to expand a prompt so you can read it, whereas long fills are right there in your face.

Let me start again: you almost always have to click on a link to expand a fill so you can read it, whereas long prompts are right there in your face.

That's what I meant.

nayrt

What are you talking about? There is no cutting ins Dreamwidth comments, the prompts are all open posted, and several fills are links to AO3.

Re: How interesting.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I only read the meme in flat view, so long prompts and long fills are both there in your face. Regardless, scrolling really isn't that difficult. It takes like two seconds.

Re: How interesting.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, that makes far more sense.

Re: How interesting.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Try it on a phone.

Re: How interesting.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I do view the meme on a phone and I'm still not seeing the difficulty in scrolling. Like I said, it is annoying annoying, but I find scrolling past long prompts on a phone no more annoying than scrolling past a long fill I have no interest in reading.

Well crap, after seeing all the logged-in users they're annoyed with, now I'm gonna be paranoid that I've done something wrong too, since I've posted logged-in as well. Granted, I haven't prompted while logged-in, but I'm still gonna worry because my brain hates me.

Re: How interesting.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-15 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no rule about having to post anon, so you haven't done anything wrong. Some people just prefer for everyone on kink memes to post anonymously.
