I think, at least for me, it's more the way the long prompts are worded. I can easily ignore long prompts, but when the prompts are saying potential fillers have to include a list of 5-10 details or write everything in a 700 word prompt, that's when it comes off as entitled.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Then what, oh divine one, are prompts really? And while we're at it: What is the purpose of kink memes?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
But there are SO MANY MORE long prompts than people who are replying to "snipe."

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's not other people's job to educate you when you join a new thing for the first time.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but they're easy to ignore, whereas the people spreading the negativity around brig down the whole meme.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't find them easy to ignore. Especially on mobile when I find myself scrolling and scrolling to get past a prompt I have no interest in.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you honestly never been on a kinkmeme before?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I find the same logic applies and you can scroll past the annoyed people just as easily.

Even more easily, actually, because it doesn't take fifteen minutes to scroll past the wall of text.

da, anon below you

Oops, I replied before seeing your comment and see that you made the same ~snipe~ I did.

Re: Why you ship what you ship

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I ship Finn/Poe. Hell I shipped them through the whole movie (if good sense hadn't kept me from it I would have yelled where did that darling flyboy go!) and had many aus in my head. Guess how happy I was when we're reunited with Poe. The connection betweens the characters in the movie had this gravity that was immediately absorbing. I liked how they managed to balance their friendship without Finn coming off as subservient. When I first understood the outline of the plot I was a bit scared it would be a bit icky (white) savior trope but they totally worked that. Finn got a lot of agency and he's such a darling. To be honest it's really exciting they chose a stormtrooper character and dealt with that mess, and we got Finn who's awesome. And Poe is most competent dork and really grounding to the story. And then when Rey came it became Finn/Poe/Rey thought that is probably due to me loving them all and I await the next for some actually material :-)

Else I ship anything that is well written and not too fucked up. In the saga I've preference to canon and Anakin/Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan/Padme and Anakin/Obi-Wan/Padme...

Totally get the fear of the white savior trope, but Poe isn't actually white. Or, well, Oscar Isaac isn't.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
No, but when you start elitist and exclusionary bullshit like that you should have at least come out and say out what you think it really is. So that there can be an actual discussion instead of whoever x it's who're divining the true motivations of other prompters. Or maybe so they know what you actually mean and maybe are convinced to do as you want.

And it is not a new thing for me and if you'd been around for a long time you'd see it differs a lot. There's not one authoritative interpretation of the mass of prompts of the multitude prompts out there. This just kills the enthusiasm of newcomers and people who articulate themselves in that manner.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of people did come out and say what it really is, and then they got screened/deleted for ~~~~negativity~.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I've been on kinkmemes for years. Thank you for your interest in my person. I just wasn't aware there's been a vote on the authoritative interpretation of them or in this case prompts.

I think it's fine to police prompts if it's because prompts aren't being filled and it's killing the meme, but to say that there should be no long prompts because I don't like them and therefore they shouldn't exist is idiotic on a kink meme. And saying prompts only are x words is stupid if you've been around sometime.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Could you direct me to it then?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Guess I called the drama. :(

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
No, they're deleted.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
This is hardly drama, chill. It's not even happening on the main post. This would be considered one of the nicer, more drama-free days on certain memes.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

I don't think there's anything wrong with telling someone they're being rude when replying to a prompt and saying, "I don't like that pairing, but I would love to see this filled with X/Y pairing" or saying "I'd love to see this filled with A headcanon or B kink!"

It's a separate issue from the long prompts, but one that's also started causing some problems on both side.

DA

If someone thinks this is drama, that's fine. There's no need to jump on them and tell them to calm down. Not everyone has experience with larger, wankier fandoms.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Even the thread they're on? That's thorough. I'd give them that at least. Thank you

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The mods have been deleting the drama.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, are you seriously trying to start drama in a subthread about how this drama? Someone's bored today.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it was more to say that it's a bit rude to tell someone to "chill" because they seem to be unhappy with something they perceive as drama but you don't.

But, sure, if you want to think of it that way, go ahead.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaand? Please elaborate because according to the AIRT they're rude cause they're too detailed and they don't understand what prompts truly are. Not because they're bashing.

Did your post come wrong or maybe I'm wrong replier?? If you mean long prompts and "not understanding" are equivalent to bashing then we're never going to are :-(
