I was only asking about what you (and everyone) consider fundamental canon which, if deviated from, would be jarring if not marked as AU (especially considering how it seems some of the books are already contradicting each other - Poe acts as a spy in one, is stated to be a terrible liar in another, iirc? Wanted to know what people's thoughts were on what's in and what's out).
"Even if you ignore Aftermath" It's a little contradictory, actually, that you say that you don't mind people going for a films-only canon, then say that like people who haven't or can't catch up on what's still a huge amount of material (going by that list) are willfully ignoring things.

I wasn't being salty unless? I stated it was a personal pet peeve of mine. I never said people were not allowed to take that interpretation and that for me it didn't fit with what I saw on the actual film about Finn.

I think the meme needs more mods who are available at different hours of the day to just delete things before they escalate.

Thank you. That is what I meant. I never felt like the "Finn is oblivious about everything" from watching the film (TFA was the first SW film I watched completely without any knowledge of the other sources), so it has always been a bit of a pet peeve just how popular that particular trope has become.
My comment about before The Awakening was that even without taking into consideration that source that goes into more detail about exactly how good Finn was while in the Order. In the actual film we see him be a competent strategist and fighter, talking with General Organa like pretty much an equal when they were planning about how to deal with Starkiller Base, making a deal with pilots to get out of Takodana, know enough about relationships to know what a boyfriend is, etc.
So I just don't really get the "Finn has to be emotionally stunt and needs Poe to lead him by the hand constantly thing" got started in the first place.

Kylo/Hux dominating here, Poe/Finn dominating AO3... It's been mentioned a lot actually, throughout the discussion pages.

Dominating on one place doesn't mean shippers are fighting. People have been mentioning that one pairing is more prevalent on certain sites, but no one is fighting endlessly about it.
Nothing good comes without the bad, but this kinkmeme has just the worst people out front and center. Any kinkmemes where this has died down? The SPN one had a small flare up recently, and I'm just trying to get away from the rampant blah coming out of this one.

I come from the A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones fandom and what's considered canon is such a mess, especially considering everyone in the books is so much younger than the actors, so you have a lot of "book canon with show actors' ages and appearances" and the fact that the show veered away from the books around season 2.

And I pointed out a pet peeve about how sometimes even what is canon on films gets taken over by fandom specific tropes regardless so even that isn't always an universal rule (I use Finn because he tends to be the most common one in this fandom, although not the only one Kylo (being super emo), Hux (being super submissive or an angry ginger) and even Rey (like Finn being constantly infantalized) and Poe's (being a sex maniac) characterization sometimes suffer from people just focusing on a single trope and ignoring the film).
