FILL: Gen AU, age chances - Finn & Poe escape

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
(I had to change a few things from what happens in the movie because of the technicalities of Finn being 10. I hope you won't mind too much, OP. I might or might not re-write other parts from the movie I like/write new scenes that could fit in the movie timeline)

He shouldn’t even ask it, but he couldn’t help himself as he looked up to Captain Phasma.

« Where is FN-1199? »

She was towering over him, tall and strong. Ever since he had first met her, he always felt that she could crush him under her feet if she wanted to.

« He was killed on Jakku » she answered in an indifferent tone that froze FN-2817’s blood in his veins.

He muffled a sob in his chest. FN-1199 had been the closest thing he had to a friend. He had always felt different from the other kids. He had no nickname. Sometimes he would say or do something, and they would all look at him with a mix of fear and disgust. He had felt alone for as long as he could remember.

His loneliness had had its advantages. All the kids were supposed to watch each other, but since the others seemed to avoid him, he could disappear for an hour or two. He had used it to explore the Finalizer. He discovered an extensive network of ventilation shafts running over the rooms. It was during on his expeditions that he had stumbled upon FN-1199.

He had been hiding in a supply room, sitting against the wall, his helmet on the ground before him. Crying. FN-2187 had never seen an adult cry before. His first instinct had been to crawl away, because crying was bad and weak and you should report it to your tutor if you saw someone cry.
FN-2187 didn’t trust the tutors. He remembered that during a test a young girl had started sobbing next to him, and the tutors took her by the arm and guided her out of the room. There was a cold, determined expression on their face has they did so, that frightened FN-2187.

He never saw the girl again.

He had recognized vaguely FN-1199 as someone from the FN corps. All the FN lived in the same area on the Finalizer, but the younger ones weren’t supposed to talk to the older ones, outside of sanctioned “motivation meetings” during class.

As quietly as possible, he removed one of the ceiling square plates over a supply closet. Once on top of the closet, he noticed that FN-1199 had jumped on his feet and was standing before him, arms open, ready to catch him if he ever fell.

That was how it all started.

FN-2187 was the one who listened at first, trying to cheer him up. FN-1199 knew he had subpar results. At the fear of not knowing what would happen to him if he kept failing, there was also the guilt of not being able to serve the First Order correctly. They all had in mind the goal of serving it, each of them doing its one bit towards bringing order to the galaxy. Failure was not an option, and dishonor waited for these who couldn’t serve the Order properly.

They shared their fears and their worries about themselves and the people they knew. FN-1199 reminded FN-2187 of the girl who cried and disappeared.
He feared that FN-1199 would disappear too.

And now, it was all over.

“Go back to your quarters and go to sleep. I’m going to schedule an appointment at the reconditioning center for you tomorrow.”

FN-2187 nodded slowly, before turning around and taking the direction of the FN corps dormitory. Once he was sure Phasma couldn’t see him, he ran into the first empty room he saw, and let a sob explode in his chest.

He closed his fist into a ball. He had to do something. He didn’t want to get reconditioned. He wasn’t going to disappear like the girl and like his friend. He didn’t have much of a plan, but he knew that he could go places where adults wouldn’t think of looking for him, or where they couldn’t
follow him. Such were the perks of being only 4’5’’.

He locked the door behind him, pushed the table against the wall, climbed on it and reached the space over the ceiling.

He crawled slowly, trying to remember his mental map of the ventilation shafts running between the rooms. He regretted his lack of planning, because of the rooms below him were dark and didn’t give much of a clue as to where he was exactly. He took a right turn after a few minutes, and spotted light coming out of a misplaced ceiling plate. He crawled towards it.

An awful cry of pure pain paralyzed him. He had never heard something as frightening as that sound.

“The droid on Jakku has the Star Map” a disembodied voice declared. Kylo Ren, Finn deduced. He was a scary as Phasma, but thankfully he had only met him a handful of times. He heard the sound of the door opening and closing. Carefully, he moved the misplaced plate, getting a better look at what was inside the room.

There was a young man tied to a chair, clothes dirty. His chin was resting on his chest, and he couldn’t get a very good look at him from where he was standing. He could hear his ragged breath, and he felt a pinch in his heart. He could imagine very well what had happened. There was a rumor running among the kids on the base, that Kylo Ren had powers that could make you feel pain without touching you and that he could read your mind if you tried to hide something from the First Order.

There was no one else in the room. They had left him alone in there, probably with a guard at the entrance. He remembered his physical education lessons about learning how to fall without hurting yourself, and jumped down into the room.

The young man turned his head towards him. His traits were distorted in pain, his forehead covered in sweat. He had fresh cuts on his cheek and on his lower lip, blood still pearling from them. The most worrying thing about him was his eyes, full of despair, guilt and fear. He had seen these eyes before, on a Stormtrooper sitting alone on the floor of a supply room, crying his heart out because he felt that he was a failure.

“I’m here to rescue you” FN-2187 declared, and he walked towards, resting his hands over the man’s.

The captive was silent for a few seconds, mouth slightly open, drawing in ragged breaths, pupils moving wildly.

“No, you’re just a kid, you’re going to get killed” he answered, pushing his tied hands away from FN-2187 and closer to his chest. He looked away from him.

“I have a plan. And I know this ship very well.” He pointed towards the ceiling. “If we go through here, we won’t meet any guards.”

The man looked in the direction in which FN-2187 pointed at. He swallowed, his pupils going up and down to Finn and to the space over the ceiling.
“Okay” he finally said, closing his eyes. “I’m going with you.”

They used the chair in the interrogation room to reach the ceiling, the man going first before helping FN-2187 climb up the best he could with his tied hands. As an adult, it was much more difficult for him to crawl in the ventilation shafts, and he kept bumping his head or his shoulders on the walls. FN-2187 guided him towards the armory.

The man went down first, FN-2187 jumping behind him. He opened a cupboard and pulled out a vibroblade. “You’re going to have to trust me” FN-2187 explained as the blade started vibrating in his hands. The man answered by putting his tied hands before him.

The cuffs fell on the floor with a loud, metallic sound. FN-2187 winced. They stayed quiet for a few seconds, then heard the footsteps on a Stormtrooper in the hallway running towards their room. He glanced at the opening in the ceiling, realizing that they wouldn’t have time to push the furniture around to climb back up.

The man kicked the cuffs with his foot, sending them in the corner of the room. He took FN-2187’s blade from his hands, grabbed his shoulder and pushed him behind a pile of riot staves covered by a sheet. He tore off the sheet and draped it over them, before crouching down next to FN-2187 and pulling him tightly against him.

There was the sound of the door opening, and the Stormtrooper took a few steps into the room. The lights were on, and FN-2187 glanced at the man’s right arm, his hand clenched against the handle of the blade. He was holding his breath, looking down briefly at FN-2187 pressed against his chest. FN-2187 held his breath as well.

The Stormtrooper stood in the room for a few seconds that seemed like hours to FN-2187. He felt his heart beating like a drum on his chest, his lungs and his throat burning. Visions of the Stormtrooper pulling the sheet over them, killing them on the spot started flooding his mind. He closed his eyes shut, his hand clenching the shirt of the man.

He listened as the Stormtrooper walked away from us and as the door opened and closed behind him.

The man removed the sheet over them. FN-2187 unclenched the shirt of the man, and brushed the crease he had made on the fabric, a little embarrassed. The man was still crouched in front of him. He put a hand on FN-2187’s shoulder.

“You alright?” he asked in a whisper, slightly squeezing his shoulder.

“Yeah” he answered in the same way, shrugging. He tried to dodge the worried look the man was throwing at him. He was trained to be a First Order soldier, they had taught him to have a better grip of his emotions
than that.

The man nodded at him, and there was now a faint smile on his face that cheered FN-2187 a little. The man seemed to know what he was doing, and he was starting to believe that they had their chances.

“Now, we need to get you some new clothes because we’re never going to make it the hanger decks with you looking like that” FN-2187 explained, pointing to the man’s dirty clothes.

They were back over the ceiling when FN-2187 realized that there was a question he probably should have asked before freeing the man.

“Can you fly a TIE-fighter?”

The man turned around, hitting his head against the wall of the shaft in the process.

“I can fly anything” he answered, massaging his head, grinning despite the pain. “Where to?” he asked. The shaft divided itself in three directions.

“Left” FN-2187 indicated.
They ended up in another supply room, this one containing the uniforms for the officers. Next to it, they could hear the noise of the machines coming from the laundry and the beeping of the droids hard at work. FN-2187 looked at the wall as the man put on a First Order uniform.

“Done?” FN-2187 asked once he heard him zip up the boots. He turned around to see that the man was holding his folded leather jacket against his chest. He was biting his lower lip nervously.

“What’s wrong?” FN-2187 asked. The man was staring intensely at his item of clothing, not wanting to move.

“I – That’s my jacket. I know this sounds probably stupid to you but I don’t want to leave it behind.” he explained, looking at his feet.

FN-2187 scratched his head. He didn’t really understand. Clothing was clothing, if your shirt was damaged, you were simply given another one. However, he understood however that the man was conflicted, and that they were losing time.

“Give it to me.”
The man handed him the jacket, looking at him with curiosity. FN-2187 tucked the jacket under his own black shirt, pressing it against his chest so that it wouldn’t be too visible.

They walked out of the room, FN-2187 holding the man by the arm. He hoped they looked enough like a First Order officer bringing back a recruit to his quarters. He was guiding the man by squeezing on his arm whenever he had to take a turn.

There was a lot more people crossing their paths as they were closer to the hanger decks. FN-2187 felt his heart race again his chest. They crossed a group of Stormtroopers, and once again the vision of them firing at them, killing them in the middle of the room appeared before his eyes. He swallowed hard. Remember the training, focus on the objective and do not let your emotions cloud your judgment.

Once they were in the hangers, FN-2187 looked for any ship that could have been conveniently left alone. He felt the man taking a different direction than him, and he spotted an empty, open TIE-fighter. The man turned his head around him. There wasn’t anyone looking at them.

“Now is our chance” the man whispered, and they ran for the open door.
It was one of the older models the First Order still kept, with one seat for the pilot. FN-2187 closed the door behind them. He turned around, lowering his back. There really wasn’t much room, and FN-2187 didn’t have much of a choice besides sitting on the man’s lap.

The man strapped the harness over them both, and grabbed the fighter’s controls, turning the engines on. The TIE moved forward a bit, and then stopped moving altogether in a tremor. A red light blinked on the control panel, signaling that the fighter was still connected to the power alimentation.

The man groaned, and pushed the button under the light, freeing them.
They managed to escape the hanger deck without getting stopped. Once they were in space, FN-2187 watched as multiple dots appeared on the radar screen. Outside, a blaster shoot nearly hit them.

“Don’t worry, I got this” the man said, and he made a half turn, shooting in retaliation. A dot disappeared on the radar screen.

“Hey, what’s your name?” he asked, almost cheerfully, and FN-2187 was surprised at his tone.

“FN-2187” he answered, as the man made the TIE fighter take a nosedive towards another of their pursuers. He watched as the man shot at it, making him explode in a ball of yellow and red. FN-2187 swallowed hard. Yes, he hadn’t wanted to disappear, but until now he hadn’t expected anyone else to disappear.

“FN-21 what? They give you codenames?”

Yes, he thought. They were just part of a bigger order, a bigger machine.
“I’m not calling you FN-whatever. Where I’m from, we have real names. So, FN… what about Finn? Do you like Finn?” The TIE-fighter took a sharp turn to the right, dodging another blaster shot.

Finn. A name and no number. Not “member of the FN corps number 2187”. Finn, member of his own order with only him in it. The order of Finn. Not a part of a machine that could disappear and be replaced like a ripped shirt.

“Finn. Yes, I like it! I like a lot” he exclaimed joyfully. It felt liberating, and he toyed with the new name in his head, repeating it. Finn. A name for someone who wasn’t part of the First Order anymore. A name for someone who was free. The feeling of bliss was overwhelming, and he felt tears pearling at the corners of his eyes. He let them run freely, because right there, sitting on the man’s lap fighting for both their lives, there was no one to tell him what to do or how to feel. It was the best feeling in the world, he concluded.

“Nice to meet you, Finn. My name is Poe, Poe Dameron. I’m a pilot for the Resistance.”

Finn looked at the radar. All the dots were gone.

“We need to go to Jakku” he explained, and he took the direction of the desert planet on their left.

Finn looked up at him curiously. “Why?”

“My droid is still down there. It has a very important star map with it. It will lead us to someone that will help us fight the First Order.”

“Its name is BB-8” he continued, and Finn could hear that Poe was fond of it. “It is very cute. It’s round, white and orange and-”

A blaster shoot hit their TIE-fighter from behind, sending Finn’s head against the control panel. His vision darkened as he felt a surge of pain running all over his skull. He heard Poe yelling his name, before being swallowed by darkness.

( fill ) A Tale of Second Chances

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Not the previous anon that offered a possible fill, but I read this prompt and I just needed to give it a go myself. This is my first try for this fandom, so hopefully is not so bad, lol.

Poe was barely six years old when he first saw colors. Growing up he’d always heard from his parents the stories of their first meeting, how life just came into focus when their eyes met for the first time. Back then he’d made a face and stuck his tongue out at his mother while saying "gross" at the tooth-achingly sweet tale, his young mind not fully understanding just how important it all was.

The stories hadn’t prepared him just for how overwhelming everything was after you had met your future soulmate, which for Poe came in the form of the boy whom he then would know as Ben Solo. Ben’s eyes had widened, his expression pure shock, and likely a mirror image of his own.

It was to no one’s surprise they became the closest of friend from that day onward. Then Ben began to show abilities that Poe himself couldn’t understand, he knew his uncle was a Jedi and the General had some form of force sensibility or another. But it was one thing to hear about it, and seen his best friend in action. Ben for his part was not shy to show off to his best friend, or stop talking about how this meant he would be able to go off with his uncle to train.

Poe had smiled through the whole thing. Even thought this would mean he wouldn’t be seen Ben as much during his training years, they were still soulmates and one day their paths would cross again. The day Ben left, Poe, barely twelve then, had ran towards the other boy and hugged him as tightly as possible. Ben had smiled at him and promised to come back and visit soon, but as the other hand disappeared within the ship something heave felt over Poe’s young heart.

It wasn’t until eight more years had passed, that he fully realized what that feeling had meant.

When his world had suddenly gone from bright familiar colors—- back to grey.

Poe had heard of this happening, when one’s soulmate had passed away. It had happened to his own father. With tears already in his eyes he had abandoned his training section in search of the general. He was stopped in his track by the sight of people mobilizing, confirming his worst fears.

Something had happened to Ben—to the Jedi academy.

The First Order had gotten to them.

Before Poe can get to the General he feels a heavy hand on his shoulder before he looks up to see his father’s weary eyes and he is being pulled away and led to an empty room. “Stay.” Poe wants to argue against his father’s words. But he’s suddenly tired and lost…and worst of all alone. The light in his life is gone and he has no idea what to do or what has happened.

His father locks the door behind him and Poe is left alone with his thoughts.

It is only hours later that someone comes from him. One of the generals he’s seen walking around the base. They take him to a different room, but this time the General so there and so is his father. Her eyes are red. And her expression looks broken.

Whatever hope Poe had held unto is gone before they even speak up and tell him everything.

That night he learns that Ben Solo is dead.

And Kylo Ren lives.

----

They offer for him to take a break. Go home with his father’s relatives. But he quickly declines the offer. Working with the Resistance is what he was born to do. This is what his mother had been born to do. If his dad had managed to keep going with her gone, so can Poe.

He trains and slowly works his way up the chain of command. It takes a long time to get used to the lack of color around his life. But having others depend on him helps. Having a mission, a cause he believes on, makes the pain easier to deal with. Becoming the best pilot in the Resistance is a lot easier than forgotten warm dark eyes and a charming smile.

----

Meeting Ben—no—Kylo Ren again feels like someone took a blaster shot to his heart. It takes everything in him not to just break down right there. He jokes, makes sarcastic remarks all while doing his best to keep it all together.

To not ask the million questions he has.

Starting with, why?

The torture feels more like years than the minutes it probably was. By the time Ren is done ripping his mind apart for any information on the map and Luke’s whereabouts Poe is ready to break.

This is how he’s going to die, having failed the Resistance, his parents, the General. They all put their trust on him and he’s going to die like this.

His salvation comes in the form of the most unlikely source. A Stormtrooper. All happens so fast he barely has any time to process. One moment he’s been led to certain death and the next he feels himself being pushed aside and being told they’re here to save him.

His first thought is that is a fellow Resistance member, although he’s not sure how they could have found so quickly that he’d been taken. Maybe some spy he hadn’t been told about?

But the Stormtrooper quickly puts that theory to rest. And the he’s taking his helmet off and Poe isn’t sure what he’d been expecting, but he was sure it wasn’t this.

His first thought is that he’d been living in darkness for so long, he’d forgotten just how bright and beautiful the world was in color.

His next thought is ‘how’?

The stormtrooper says something else before Poe blurts out, “you need a pilot?”

“I need a pilot.” The other confirms with a hint of shame.

Poe can only smirk and laugh, he has no idea how this is possible but he’s already going along with it. With whatever is happening and what crazy plan the other might have.

Maybe he doesn’t have all the answers yet, but this feels like a second chance.

Oooooooooooooo!!!!! [kermit flail] What a great take on the soulmates trope! Will you be continuing this through a redemption arc for Kylo because I'd love to see what happens if Ben returns.

I don't really have anything planned at the moment, I'm not sure how the Op would about that since they asked for Finn/Poe/(Rey). But if I do I'll post it here or just move it to AO3 (which I'll likely do anyway now that I see some spelling mistakes escaped me). :)

Actually this idea started nagging me after seeing a prompt about an Omega!Luke/Alpha!Rey, and I wanted to fill it just to see if I can get out of my comfort zone. After reading more about female Alpha and male Omega I had to give up. But this version of events happened in my head :)
If no one picks it up, I'll do my best to write it soon.

[FILL] Poe is raped on the resistance base (Finn+Rey, Finn+Poe) 2/?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-31 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I forgot to mention, if it wasn't obvious, both Finn and Rey were off training with Luke to become Jedis.

Mostly just friendship at this point, but there will likely be a bit of Poe/Finn and Rey/Finn later. Possible OT3 too.

---

When they get to the medbay, General Organa is conversing with a medidroid in the hallway, a tight expression pinching at the corners of her mouth and eyes. The General’s face softens when she sees them approaching, and she waves the droid off.

“Rey, Finn,” she greets them, pulling both of them against her chest in an unexpected embrace. “How was your trip back?”

“It was fine, General,” Finn says, extricating himself gently to look her right in the eyes.

Finn knows the General’s eyes have seen countless battles, loved ones lost, death and destruction, but he doesn't think he’s ever seen her look this…this sad. He hadn’t been conscious when he was brought back to the base after Starkiller, so he hadn’t seen the grief in her eyes for Han, but he imagines that pain looked a lot like this.

“What happened to Poe?” Rey slices through Finn’s thoughts like a lightsaber, getting right to the point. He appreciates that about her, among other things. “Threepio wouldn’t tell us a thing.”

General Organa sighs and shakes her head. “A few weeks ago, Commander D—Poe was assaulted on-base. He was left with serious injuries. A few broken ribs, broken fingers, and internal bleeding.”

Assault?” Rey’s spine stiffens and her tone grows brittle. “Oh, no. You don’t mean—”

General Organa nods, eyes glossing over with what appear to be tears, and Finn looks frantically between the two women. He feels like he’s missed out on something vital here.

“Yes,” Organa says, drawing in a deep, shaky breath. “Poe… He was raped. It was a Resistance soldier.”

Finn goes cold all over, goosebumps raising on his flesh under his warm cloak. In the First Order, they had no tolerance for rape; it was probably one of the only forms of assault Finn’s former superiors looked down on. If a ’trooper was caught assaulting a fellow ’trooper they were immediately decommissioned and tossed out of the airlock without so much as a trial.

Only scum, rebel scum, Resistance scum, General Hux’s ravings echo in Finn’s mind, would resort to such tactics. We have no use for that here.

How could something like this—something so vile the kriffing First Order frowned upon it—happen on the Resistance base? How could something like this happen to someone as good, someone as kind and generous and loving as Poe?

Why hadn’t Finn felt a disturbance in the Force? Why wasn’t he here to stop it?

“Finn, what’s going through your mind?” Rey asks softly, slipping her hand around his. The sleeve of her robe is coarse against the back of his hand and, oddly, the scratch of the fabric draws him out of his tumultuous thoughts.

“I need to see Poe,” Finn croaks, throat suddenly as dry as the sands of Jakku. He grips Rey’s hand tightly.

“He hasn’t been taking visitors,” General Organa says, flicking her wet eyes over Finn’s face. “But I will ask for you.”

Finn nods, unable to speak, and swallows past a growing lump in his throat. He doesn't dare try to speak. He is afraid of what might come out of his mouth. Instead, he lets Rey lead him to the medbay’s sterile white waiting room, where a thin, sallow-faced man in a brown uniform jacket—decorated with gleaming medals—sits with a holomag in his lap.

Finn scrutinizes him, reaches out with the fingers of his mind to probe. Could he be the monster who hurt Poe?

Rey jerks on his hand, pulling him out of the man’s thoughts abruptly. “Don’t,” she warns, curling closer into Finn’s side. “There will be time for that later.”

Finn pulls his hand free and rubs over his face. “I should have felt something,” he says into his palms. “I should have been able to feel it. Maybe I could have—”

“There’s nothing we could have done, Finn,” Rey says. “We’re both so new to this. When Starkiller blew, I hardly felt a ripple in the Force.”

Finn squeezes hands over his face hard enough that he sees bright red and yellow stars burst behind his eyelids. “That was different. They were your—our enemies. This is Poe.”

Rey rests her cheek against Finn’s shoulder. She reaches for his hand again and turns it over in her lap, palm facing upward. “I’ll ask Master Luke to help,” she says, tracing her fingertips over the lines on Finn’s palm. “He’ll know how to help Poe.”

“He won’t let Luke go into his mind,” Finn says, glancing down at their hands. He watches his fingers twitch, detachedly, as if from outside his body. “You know what Kylo Ren did to him on the Finalizer.”

“But Luke could—”

“No, I—we can’t ask him to go through that again,” Finn says firmly. “What could Luke even do? We don't even know the shape Poe is in.”

The doors leading to the medbay open with an exhale and General Organa emerges, her mouth thinned into a grim line. Doctor Kalonia follows, looking equally as dour.

“He’s asked to see Finn first,” the General says, offering Rey a small, apologetic smile.

Finn nods and jumps to his feet. He’s full of nervous energy now, and all he really wants to do is race into Poe’s room and throw himself into a full-body hug.

He just barely manages to not do that.

“Let’s do this,” Finn says. He glances down at Rey and pauses for a moment before slipping his robe off his shoulders and offering it out to her. “Hold onto this for me.”

Rey takes the robe and folds it against her chest. “I’ll be out here when you’re done,” she says.

Finn takes a few steps toward the medbay before stopping and turning, tipping his chin up to Rey. He stands up a little straighter, hopes he looks as confident and calm as he wishes he felt.

“Thank you,” he says, and then slips past Organa and Kalonia for Poe’s room.
