I think this is it. The majority of fanfiction writers are straight women, so unless you're dealing with a major canon f/f pairing is not that surprising.

(This is also the reason for the obsession with who tops or bottoms in stories.)

Nah, I've seen gay and bi women get hung up on that top/bottom dynamic shit too. It's an equal opportunity brand of stupidity.
