I never said posters were the same age in my post? Just that age does play a role in what people like to see in stories. 13 year old me tastes in stories are very different from 23 year old me. For example, I was really into Snape/Lily back then, but it's a ship that now makes me uncomfortable looking back to it.
I have no doubt it's the same for a lot of people. Our tastes change and evolve with time. Our tastes in smut might also change as we become more aware of our own sexuality and likes, etc.
I didn't ship anyone with anyone else in anything until the age of 35, when I dove straight into the deep end of Johnlock and Johnstrade PWPs and domestic fluff.
Yes people's tastes change, but not everyone of the same age has the same assumable tastes.
