Making the a href tag work?

So, I'm big on formatting my posts nicely (especially on the fills post, because clicking links is so much easier than copying and pasting for those of us who use mobile devices to browse the kmeme) and I can't seem to figure out how to get the effect that the a href tag usually does?

When I try to do it, instead of text with a clickable link, it looks to me like:

 text that I want to be clickable (url that i want to direct to) 

The code I'm using for it is just

 [left tag]a href="url"[right tag]text[left tag]/a[right tag] 

Is there something I'm doing wrong or will it look like a link to anyone that's not me?

You can't embed links as an anon poster. You have to sign into an account to make clickable url links.

aaaaaaaah, ok, thank you! we'll see if i get annoyed enough with it to actually do that. :)

If it bothers you enough, I suggest creating a sock account just to post prompts and fills. I've done it before and it can actually come in useful for tracking threads and other meme stuff.
