What would their daemons be? I can see Rey with something like a lemur because she's agile and strong, but I really have no idea about the others. Or maybe force-users are the witches of this AU and they all have birds/flying daemons?
Just got back from posting a patronus prompt, so turn about is only fair. Keep or toss what you like. Some are silly and some are more serious.
Emo Ren has an Emu daemon. Which, for a force user, is pretty sad. Flightless, you know. Kylo will never admit that she hasn't settled yet, and the two of them, continuously arguing, stomp about terrorizing the rank and file. Kylo never calls her by name.
Hux has a ginger tabby, quite sleek and knowing. He calls her Millicent but she never answers. The rank and file assume that the General is always watching because Millicent turns up in all sorts of unexpected places. There is a great deal of respect for how far she can roam. Only Kylo knows that Hux has been incised. Or something. He's still not sure if Millicent is a trained cat or Hux's almost-but-not-quite seperated daemon. He's been tempted to touch her and find out. He should be able to tell, right? The thing that holds him back is that Millicent likes to follow him around. Like she *wants* to be pet. Spying. He refuses to give her what she wants. Hux will not win.
All the stormtroopers have wolves, or large dogs in some cases. Finn feels better about his chances with Lady at his side. Except that it's hard to fit two humans, a massive wolf, and some sort of flying monkey (flying lemur, he's a flying *lemur*, Finn, *don't* call him a monkey-lizard) in the underdeck without touching each other's daemons. Oh. *Oh*. He finally gets why Stormtroopers are to wear gloves and helmets at all times. This connection could be addictively distracting.
Han has a mockingbird. Chewbacca's people do not have daemons, they are complete unto themselves. (Rroowoaawah: we are not so vulnerable as to wear our souls where they can go missing, Han) Yeah, Chewie, I gotcha. You're just jealous that Maggie caught the keys and saved me before you did.
Leia has an impressive feline-raptor, whom she calls Griffin. He is a strange color varient - all white.
Everyone thinks Luke's daemon is a very large dog. She's at least part wolf. No one still living knows that she didn't settle until he found his aunt and uncle's bodies. But that doesn't mean she's not loyal, stubbornly so, or that she can't run so fast with the Force that she practically flies.
Poe has always want to fly. His daemon is a hawk. She's fierce and fragile and when Kylo Ren reached for him she went for his eyes. Poe screams because he's about to betray what he loves and believes in. He screams because it hurts and he can't push Ren out. He screams because she tore through Ren's gloves and when talons met skin he can feel how much the world is built of only pain.
Okay, so I’ve written a daemon AU for this kinkmeme, but there are plenty of headcanons about the ’verse that I didn’t get a chance to include.
Poe’s daemon has to be a flyer. I picked a kitehawk (why do you have so few cool birds, Star Wars wiki?). I haven’t decided on her name, but I suspect I would look up common Guatemalan Yavin 4 names and pick one that sounded good.
Hux’s daemon is a cat of some sort, maybe one of the big ones like a panthalynx or maybe something more domestic-sized.
Leia gets a badass royalty-coding creature, like a lion would be in our ‘verse. His name would be fancy too.
Han would have some sort of creature that’s a really hardy survivor, but is widely considered vermin. She’d have a simple, functional name like Rey’s.
Do wookiees have daemons??
What’s Luke’s daemon?? Something desert-dwelling and kind of common? Her name would be similar to Leia’s daemon, but probably got shortened to a nickname over time though.
Does Phasma settle as something big and strong like a gurreck or does she go down the more sensible/manoeuvrable path? I have no idea.
I want to say that Snoke either comes from a species that has internal daemons (like us) OR has followed a Sith tradition of intentionally severing his daemon in a controlled way (such that he doesn’t turn into a soulless shell) and hidden her somewhere. Though there’s been debate in Sith history as to whether the process is worth the risk. It makes you stronger, but it could kill you.
All formalised Force-user institutions, Jedi and Sith, do separation training. Jedi are more like witches where it’s a difficult mystical ceremony that… mostly… works. For the Sith it’s more torturous, but still different from actual severing. Separation training is normal. Having your daemon touched by your master is a completely normal and commonplace part of Sith culture. After all, how will you deal with it from an enemy if you don’t know what it’s like? Jedi don’t do this, but there have always been well-intentioned Jedi extremists who think it would be a good idea.
If you haven’t read the fic, I went with Rey’s scurrier named Bracca, Kylo’s raquor’daan named Elennia, Finn’s flame beetle that he panicked and named Poe when Rey asked (he didn’t know many names, okay!?) and changed to Little Poe later when human Poe’s revealed to still be alive. The First Order stormtroopers do not have daemons, as part of their “training”. Finn was special (not quite sure how, species thing?) and had enough range so that he managed to keep his daemon.
Elennia was named by Leia and Han’s daemons after the place where she was conceived. Leia’s daemon vetoed Millennium, but like the sound of Elennia just fine.
PS. Almost all the clones from the prequels settled as some variant of battle-dog. But not all. Some had left-field daemons and those clones went on specialities. Oh, that guy with the bird, clearly a scout, that one with the ro hypa is definitely an assassin. Wow, is that a gurreck? Looks like someone thinks they’re officer material.
