Okay, so I think it is very tied to the fact that there is not a lot of fics about established Poe/Finn. The movie gives us a golden opportunity to write slow burn or falling in love fics. Rey going off on her own to train with Luke for an undetermined amount of time, leaving Poe and Finn on D'Qar. That's what drew writers on the first place. That, plus the ship introducing a lot of people to the concept of fandom (it got me personally to start writing) and maybe younger fans than with Kylux, it isn't a fertile ground for kinky stuff.
Personally, I'd love to read and write kinky stuff, but really only if they're in an established relationship, and to get the feeling right, I always feel like I need to write more. My brain refuses to compute when I read prompts about the First Order being open about sex or making sex part of its culture. I'm like, cool headcanon, but not mine. I can't see Finn as opening about his kinks to Poe until time has passed. Same for Poe, can't see him as the guy to try and say anything that might make Finn uncomfortable.
I think fandom will come around, eventually. Kinky sex can be hot for these two if it's very consensual, because it shows off how much these two love and trust each other.
After the anon who wrote P/F sex pollen was bullied into taking her fic offline, I don't think you'll be seeing sex pollen or dub/non-con anytime soon.
Given the fic, I'd say that or it was a random dog piling target like happens on anon memes where someone gets a bug up their ass and starts wanking and others jump on the wankwagon.
Considering the first comment was unfortunately the one to start the wank, that was likely the case. By the time other readers tried to come to the author's aid the harm was done and they were all patting themselves in the back for being so progressive.
Do you remember if the comment was from someone logged into an account or an anon comment? I find a lot of the wankbait comments on AO3 fics or ones that are more demanding or accusatory don't come from people who have signed into accounts.
This is why I didn't get why so many people went after the author. It was nowhere near as graphic or violent as some of the stuff I have come across. Yes it was not a happy story, but not every story has to be happy.
Supernatural and Supernatural RPF during the early years. Though I know it was a big issue in other fandoms like SGA and HP, mostly with warning for unhappy endings or the OTP not ending up together.
IRC, there were a lot of meta posts at the time about whether or not people should warn for everything and comparing fandom fic warnings with warnings irl for books and movies.
As the other anon said. The last writer who dared to write a dark sex pollen story was harassed by the PC police to the point they no only had to delete the story, but make an official apology for hurting their feelings. So I doubt we'll be seen anyone tackle that any time soon.
There was a very dark one posted today that was "Kylo makes FN-2187 rape Poe during the interrogation" and FN got off on Poe being hurt, although it was also clear the fucked up reasons why and it wasn't villainizing him. So maybe people aren't the scared bunnies you worry they all are.
I'm sure it is for some people, but yeah, poor choice of words, I was talking about my own opinion and used words that implied that I spoke for everyone else.
