But not all fiction is fanfiction, and you (or they, I can't tell who's replying) at first specified fanfiction only.

Okay, now you're getting into semantics and I have no desire to argue about that. Think what you want, but I think the point still stands that fanfiction is a type of fiction and fiction's point is to insert and immerse yourself in different characters' experiences and worlds.

and also, for this type of discussion, going anon seems like really impractical, because one cannot differ from replyer from the other.
