I'm so confused by the amount of rude comments people leave on prompts/fills here (to say nothing of the discussion page.) Maybe it's because the other memes I've been on have had stricter enforcement of no wank rules? Even then it seems like an uncommon amount of meanness makes its way onto this meme.
I think there were one or two really shitty anons who decided they had to go around yelling at people or being rude, and it made other people defensive about things that they wouldn't normally be defensive about :(
I think the mod should probably just freeze things right when they first start to get wanky. Usually the mod will leave a comment on something wanky, saying that they'll wait and see if it escalates. But the problem is that it almost always escalates. The best kink memes I've been on have been ones where the wanks get nipped in the bud.
I think people came into the meme with a lot of feelings, weren't immediately gratified with a ton of fanfiction exactly fitting their interests (since it's a slower moving meme with a range of pairings), and got bored and restless. For some people that results in prompt spamming, for some, being rude assholes, and for others, meme-policing the rude assholes. It's like inevitable meme entropy.
