I'm not saying they don't sound silly sometimes; I'm saying that ship names do serve a function within that context.
What I meant was that tumblr used to not allow tags with / in them, now they do. Of course different tags have different lists on tumblr. They don't have people cross-referencing tags like AO3 does.
Very true -- I just wanted to point out that the idea of a combined single-word designation for tagging does make sense in that context. You're absolutely right about the '/'.
