This just makes me nostalgic for that one website where the ships were titled S.S. Whatevers.

It was Fiction Alley! I always preferred the ship names over portmanteaus since portmanteaus makes me cringe.

Holy crap, these are amazing.

Portmanteaus don't bother me too much, but I started out in anime fandoms where they were pretty common. They can be confusing, though.

I just remember Buffy fandom where all the portmanteaus sounded like diseases.

Yeah!! I think it's because Ron/Hermione was one of the first ships, so they got stuck with the kind of lame, but lamely charming name of "The Good Ship"

I forgot what the ship name for Albus Severus/Scorpius was, but I remember a lot of people saying they ship AS/S.

The name "The Good Ship" came about as a passive aggressive poke at Harry/Hermione shippers to remind them which ship would probably be canon.

im 25 and i was on fictionalley ALL THE TIME ten years ago! i shipped Guns & Handcuffs (Harry/Draco) :) im so glad other people remember that forum!
