Not to mention the other parallels: - facist (and therefore inherently imperialist) ideology - centered around technological advancement (namely weapons) - if they strive to be like the Empire, then they would also have a distain for non-human races (no "aliens" as far as I could see work for the First Order but they are visible in the Resistance). - (seemingly) giant and meticulous bureaucracy
