There's a lot of moral judgement about "How dare you, what's wrong with you?" from people who're uncomfortable with the whole hero/villain 'it's obviously abusive!' 'he tortured her!' thing, and also Rey/Finn shippers who think the only reason you'd possibly prefer to ship Reylo over Rey/Finn is because you're racist and hunting for the White Cock™ -- never mind that again, hero/villain shipping has pretty much always been a thing.

But yeah, actual genuine shaming exists, sadly.

That is, unfortunately, something that happens in every fandom. Especially when a particular pairing becomes popular. And, rather than just ignore the ship they don't like and just focus on producing work for the ones they do like... it's time to attack people!

It sucks and has made me sigh for the fifteen odd years I've been involved in fandoms.

Reylo isn't my cup of tea so I just scroll on by. Simple as that. I really wish other people could do the same.

I've seen that "some people are so racist they'd rather ship Rey with her abuser than with a black man" argument come across my tumblr dash more than once, but I just tune it out tbh.

it pisses me off when people call Kylo Ren her abuser. He's her ENEMY, yes. Would people be calling him her abuser if she wasn't a woman?

Well, he did mentally torture her. And yes, people are saying the same thing about Kylo Ren and Poe, so it's not just a gender thing.

That's not the same as an abusiver relationship or being one's abuser. God, I hate how fandom has distorted the meaning of this word. Like a character isn't bad enough unless you make them the more personal "abuser".
