I kind of have different categories of things I ship. Like, I feel like I am able to separate out what may eventually happen in canon from the things I fucking wish would happen in canon (ot3) to the things that will never ever happen in canon because it's owned by disney now and they aren't going to show me the Kylo sobbing into Hux's hair begging and pleading to let him come already.
It's similar, for me, how in the Marvel 'verse, I know they'll never make Sam/Steve canon, but there's nothing so far that goes against it so live and let live.
That's how I felt about Sam/Natasha up until AoU ruined it for me. I'll still ship it though. I'll ship Sam with almost everyone.
Now that Disney owns Marvel and Star Wars, I've given up hope of ever getting a gay or bisexual character. Even if it does happen, I'm expecting it to be released outside of a movie, a la JK Rowling's announcement about Dumbledore. Which, while still nice, isn't the same as addressing it within the canon source material.
