I think most of the time I also like friendship ships, but I also often like foe yay (like the antagonist + the protagonist), it really depends on the people. There are many of the IMHO most "canon" pairings I have shipped that were foe yay, because it was like the antagonist was also the one who understood you the most (and vice versa), an almost magnetic relationship where you can't live with him, but can't live without him either (thinking of e.g. the Hannibal TV show now).
I think I like love/hate the most when there's rivalry involved and often you notice that the people do care about each other, but it's just shown in a really weird way. I guess for Kylo there's not enough canon evidence yet if he even cares about the people he's being shipped with (probably not :P ). I mean for Kylo/Hux I like the idea that even though they're getting on each other nerves and do hate on each other, they are on the same side and then there's the fact that Hux (well, it was an order, but still) rescues him with a tracker that's inside Kylo's belt (which could mean anything really, but gives the possibility for some non-antagonistic caring).
But I think I know what you mean with the taking something as secret affection when it's not. Kylo/Rey does make me uncomfortable for example, I mean everyone's entitled to what they ship and I think I could potentially like it if it's expanded upon (which I kinda doubt though since I am pretty sure it'll turn out Rey's related, or at least I would be surprised if she wasn't). I think I would like it if there was redemption involved and just dealing with the emotions and all the bad things Kylo has done etc. But many people seem to ship it in that uh, non-con / kinky way going by the scenes in the movie where he force holds her and says he'll just take anything he wants and that just seems so... ugh, 50 Shades of Grey like.
I'm not sure I can think of other villains I ship on the top of my head (I'm sure there are, but maybe not my OTPs or something), but most villain ships are just messed up in a way, but that's something one can like too as a variety from the fluffy ships. xD
