Funny story, I tried anal sex for the first time after having read fics that didn't include any prep, and wow, did NOT make that mistake again. The feeling was comparable to trying to shove a splintery baseball bat into a woollen baby sock (Google "anal micro tearing" for WHY), and neither of us much enjoyed it. Second time (with maybe too much lube) went much better!
They say write what you know. I say if you're going to write it anyway, at least TRY sticking something up your butt first. Even if you're not writing about anal sex. Everyone needs to be humbled by their own inability to take a single dry finger up the duff at some point.

Oh noooooooo. Glad it's gotten better since the first time.
The first time I had anal sex also wasn't good. It wasn't like it was taught in schools and the 90s was not an easily accessible time for getting information around. Neither of us knew what we were doing and the experience was so uncomfortable that it put me off sex for a long time.
