I heard that Harrison Ford only returned to play Han on the condition that Han died. If true, Chewie'sprobably going to be alright, because he doesn't have that hanging over him, and there's already been one major character death.
I've heard he specifically wanted Han to die in a way that would significantly impact the characters and the arc of the movies, and that that hand to Kylo's face as he died was Harrison's idea.
