I'm pretty sure a one-sided Kylo being into Rey is canon. Like, after he gets defeated by Rey in one-on-one Force confrontation he goes to whine at Snoke and otherwise displays none of his usual tantrum behaviours. Considering this is Kylo "Tantrum" Ren we're talking about, to me that suggests he's not really upset to have been beaten.

The next scene they meet, Kylo's trying to recruit her, rather than say, make excuses about why he lost or take out all his piss-baby feels on her. Conclusion: Kylo got his ass handed to him by Rey and would maybe like her to do it again.

Unfortunately, Rey hasn't read enough fic and doesn't realise that hate-banging is a thing, so Reylo is pretty one-sided. But I'm always happy to read the fic where Rey does come to the realisation that hate-sex has a winner and that winner is her.

DA Entirely

You really hit the nail on the head. I don't read Reylo except for the occasional weird hatesex.

NA. There are equally viable platonic interpretations of all of that (Kylo doesn't have to want to bang a powerful force user to want her as a recruit), but yeah, I can see where the shippers get it from.

They get it from Twilight.

People still care about Twilight?

Only the ones who think it's representative of the perfect romantic relationship.

Really? Because I don't hear about it from anyone except the anti-fans who somehow think its one-time popularity proves girls want to be abused. Everyone else has grown up and moved on.

I personally know 8 people who still view it as the perfect romance, ranging in age from 14 to 59, including my step-aunt who is a school librarian and who is proud of pimping the series to every pre-teen girl who asks her for a book recommendation. They are still out there.

sa

I do fully admit that my step-aunt's promotional activities have given me a personal grudge against the series though.

That shit always made me laugh. Women have been into guys who are mad, bad, and dangerous to know since Lord Byron and probably before; it's a phase for a lot of us and like any phase it passes harmlessly most of the time. Anyone who thought Twilight was particularly dangerous in that respect has never ever read a single Harlequin Romance or YA urban fantasy.

Edward was a textbook stalker though.

DA. He was, yes. He was also not especially unique in that, and finding a fictional vampire stalker romantic does not translate to being OK with being stalked in real life. Like the other anon said, it's a harmless phase.

One that my step aunt has been encouraging in preteen girls since 2007.

Whatever, I'm bitter.

You... did miss the part where Snoke outright COMMANDS Kylo to recruit Rey, right? I guess it's hard to see through those shipper goggles but damn, your "analysis" is missing some serious info.
And, sure, I guess, if you're desperate enough you can read that as some weird romance flavoured attraction but... really. No.
