The Dark Side =/= the Empire/First Order though, they just use each other to achieve non-conflicting goals. The Empire was a white male humans only club, and what we've seen of the First Order, except for dropping the "male-only" restriction, that's pretty much not changed.

With the difference of Snoke, a non-human, being the official Supreme Leader of the whole thing.

Because he's Dark Side and controls the dark Force users. Just like Palpatine, who didn't look too human at the end there.

But Palpatine did start out as a human looking human. And Snoke is the leader of the First Order despite being non-human. Granted, we don't know if he is the official leader or if he is more like a behind the scenes puller of strings that not everyone in the First Order is aware of. But that's just it: we simply don't know mostl of anything about the Order yet.

Do we know for sure Snoke didn't start out human?

Pretty sure it was confirmed he was some kind of alien, but people are free to prove me wrong.

Snoke is part of the Dark Force user exemption, like Darth Maul.

Only Darth Maul had no official position in the command structure of the Empire afaik (I may be wrong, since I never watched any of the animated shows where I hear he appeared again for some reason).

Maul died years before the Empire existed. Though I heard there was some extended universe thing about bringing him back? IDEK.

Yeah, that's why I meant. Afaik, Darth Maul was already cut in two by the time the Empire existed but he apparently is back in the Clone Wars and AGAIN in Rebels? I don't know why or how though.

I think he can regenerate like a flatworm.

Does that mean there are now two of him?

Or a starfish. Every bit of Darth Maul cut off can become an entirely new Darth Maul.

He's back in canon not the EU. Clone Wars and Rebels are part of the official continuity.

Snoke isn't a First Order Officer.

Never said he was. But he is the leader of the First Order, so still an official position (and the most powerful at that). If you want to stick with the inevitable Nazi-comparison, that'd be like a Jewish Hitler.

No he wasn't, that's a myth that has been disproven.

The original question was regarding First Order Officers though, so Snoke still does not count as a First Order officer.

It wasn't a tangent, it was addressing the question posed, and was not actually addressing the question posed.

Either your reading comprehension or your capability for discussion is a bit off if you think that a discussion post on a kink meme works like a pop quiz where people are only allowed and/or able to give one correct the answer to a question and unable/not allowed to elaborate on a topic/bring up additional points.
The context for mentioning Snoke is pretty obvious from the sentence I wrote.
