I think at the moment there is no such official feature, according to here: http://archiveofourown.org/comments/3527177

The closest thing I could find on greasyfork was this: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/8382-ao3-tracking

Why do they say the site's in beta when they don't ever seem to change anything?

they change things all the time, its just only seen when the site crashes.

NA or when they repeatedly and unexpectedly hit you with forced logouts, as happened recently.
