The MySpaceAU is NOT comedy. It features borderline sociopath Hux and his weird roadkill collecting fascination/occupation, masochist Ren and his weird tastes in scene clothes, and GORE. One of the first bits of art I saw of it was of Hux stabbing a willing Ren in the gut with a scalpel. The name comes from the colour schemes used in the art (pastels and such) and the style of dress of both Ren and Hux - Hux being a little preppy, almost proto-hipster, with glasses and turtleneck sweaters; Ren in the aforementioned scene clothes consisting of safety pins and weirdly dyed hair. The early 2000's aesthetic is pretty distinctive.
Despite how brutal the art can be, consent is important to the original artists, so Hux and Ren have a strange but affectionate relationship. Ren ENJOYS the pain Hux can give him, and Hux enjoys carving up Ren.

AYRT is completely accurate tho'. I'm a fan of the MySpace AU and that's...all correct and legit. Hux is developing as a character with genuine mental illness and a difficult family background, and the originator of the AU is basing it on her own experiences and doing a pretty good job of it. It's not for people who have a problem with gore, but it's a lovingly crafted world for fans who do like that sort of thing.

AYRT here, and I don't see how what I said was judgemental... The MySpaceAU is my jam, but I'm not going to downplay it's themes.

It's not my thing either, but there's a difference between 'not downplaying' and passing judgement. Lot of judgemental language in what you said about it for not judging.

AYRT: Whatever you've read into my choice of words, I genuinely enjoy this AU, and didn't actually intend any negativity. Ren really does have a strange style of dress (as described by Horatiosroom, and common for that period of time), and Hux really does seem to have some form of mental illness (one of the original people even wrote Hux having a dissociative episode with overwhelmingly invasive thoughts), so yeah. It's not all on me, here.

I think, you are referring to a very specific story, while I thought, I saw more than just one fic/Wip ,that had the myspace mentioned.

I thought, the recent influx of Gore tags in the stories was somehow separated from the myspace.

Though to be honest, I still don't understand the connection of myspace and the gore tag (just one example, the other would be, why has the clothing and the 2000's aesthetic has to do with myspace?).

Rape and noncon are my kinks, but blood and gore and surgeries are not, so I can think, I can stay clear of those stories :D
