Seeing as the prompt freeze is meant to encourage us to read as well as fill, what are your favourite things that you've seen written for this kinkmeme?
It's gotta be the Hux and Kylo both being Omegas one. That has BAGS of potential.

This comment is lovely and spot on. Every little bit of feedback is wonderful, even if it just brings a smile to the face of the person who wrote the story it is worth it. Encouragement is a wonderful thing.
Damn you, now I'm reading through this damn thread on reddit, and it's hilarious. Could def think of a few fic scenarios ;)
I feel the same, anon! I always like to know what about my writing people liked so I can find different ways to incorporate or improve on those same elements! Little comments like "Thanks!" and "<3" are encouraging, no doubt (and I love the idea of giving those more often)! But when someone quotes parts that they like or tells me that my character voices were spot-on, ahhh, that makes my whole week!
It's hard when the character gets like five minutes of screen time. Inevitable XD
Well, given the number of comments, this is already one of the better known/loved fills on the meme, but definitely this one:

I have two:
I like creepy dark stuff so this one's a favourite:

And second, someone wrote stuff for a mirror!verse and it's so great:

Genuine question, but how do some fics have so many kudos?
I notice that the older a fic is, the newer it is to a random, the more hits and kudos it has. That makes sense.
But some fics have barely any hits and barely any kudos, despite being very similar to the popular ones and posted at prime times.
So what is happening? Some fics deserve to have few kudos, but some popular ones are godawful too. I'm baffled.

but how else do you respond when someone cards your hair?
Some fic writers have name recognition and tons of loyal subscribers. Some have tons of Tumblr followers to promote it to. Once your fic gets a certain number of kudos more than the next fic with the same premise, you've got the ball rolling: anyone looking for that type of fic will see yours is the more popular and choose that one, perpetuating the popularity cycle.
there's some real shockers on ao3 - i always take kudos with a pinch of salt now.
Some authors are more popular, sometimes a little detail in the fic hits many people's buttons and the basically similar fics don't have it, and sometimes people just have different taste than you. There are even some fics of my own that have a number of kudos that I personally don't think they deserve more than other fics of my own in the same fandom/pairing. It all comes down to people being different, basically, and arbitrary things like more people randomly happening to be online at a certain time on a certain day for reasons you couldn't guess.
It might be the presentation of the fic: the title, the summary, the tags, that sort of thing. For instance, if a fic has lots of 'author note' kind of tags, especially self-defeatist ones like "i don't know what this is" or "this probably sucks", that can make people less inclined to click.
Promotion outside of AO3 is also a factor. For instance, if somebody makes a Tumblr post advertising their fic, every time it gets reblogged that's another wave of potential readers.

Maybe the fact that they're very similar has to do with it. I know I'm burnt out on seeing the exact same situation over and over again, so whereas I might've liked it before I got tired of it, I now no longer click or kudos it.
Agreeing, and also adding that the same sometimes goes for WIPs, especially if they're 100,000 words and at 50/? chapters.
Fics posted within a few days of a movie releasing always have a lot of kudos, regardless of whether or not they deserve it. It's usually due to people being excited by a new pairing or fandom and rushing to read whatever is posted.
Aside from that, name recognition is a big thing. I know there are some tropes I've scene over and over again, but I'll read them if an author whose work I like in another fandom writes a fic with that trope.
When fandoms become so huge, so quickly, a lot of good fic gets passed over and it takes fandom awhile to find it groove. Across every fandom I've been in, there's always been one or two fandom favorites that I've disliked. I think it comes down to preference and what the majority of fandom is seeking at the moment.

DA
I feel like people really capitalize on popular ideas and write it into the ground. I don't think I can see one more "Poe or Rey teaches Finn what love is!" fic.
Though, this fandom is only a month old, so I have hope that some fics with different plots will pop up soon.

Kylo Ren fans - what is the appeal? I think I find the actor charming after snl, but what is it about Ben that makes him amazing?
I saw an apology for that civil rights au that was swiftly deleted. I didn't read the original but I can only imagine what it would have been like.
Probably the same reason mcu fandom went batshit over Loki. He's a murderous, powerful white dude with dark, flowy Disney princess hair who sometimes has emotions that make people believe they can save him with ~the power of familial love~
For me he fits into perfectly into the category of "villains I find sympathetic/endearing but not in a way that excuses their villainous actions which leads to strangely enjoyable emotional conflict about how I love them but they must be destroyed".
Also the fact that he's Han and Leia's son, while it makes his actions that much worse, also means I just WANT to love him so bad and want him to come back to the Light Side because he's HAN AND LEIA'S SON, he can't be beyond redemption.
Aaaaaaand everything about the way Adam Driver plays him just works SO WELL for me, I would watch him alternately cry and menace people and then try to menace people but it doesn't work that well because he looks like he's about to cry forever.
