I always figured they were just humanoids in some other galaxy in /our/ past. I could be wrong but that's my assumption. Maybe it's my time watching Doctor Who were you have humans, but also human-like aliens not really related to us.

Either way they are not post-Earth colonists like the other anon said.

Music is important to me. It is a motivation. It's also a way to help me find peace. And sometimes, after listening to some songs after TFA, I've found myself thinking about how songs match up with the movie, certain scenes, character(s) or just the mood of the music matches up to the right moments.

Rather than write a song-fic, or a fic inspired by a song - it's never been my approach to writing - I would just like to ask what are songs you've associated with TFA scenes and/or characters.

If you have a playlist of your own, or someone else's playlist, that you would recommend, I'm interested in that too.

"Control" by Halsey is a song that gets attached to Kylo Ren quite a lot for the angst/mental illness perspective. I've found that David Bowie's "Quicksand" reminds me of everything I enjoy about the idea of his inner struggle.

I've been in and out of kinkmemes for the better part of a decade and, while I always thought I had reasonable if not low expectations for fills, I've been kind of disappointed by this meme in particular. I've never been a part of one with such an extremely low prompt:fill ratio. When I was introduced to kinkmemes, they were a place for people with specific fetishes or rarepairs to ask for short fics of something that would probably never have been written organically. Maybe it's just this one or maybe it's all modern kmemes, but now I feel like they're just a dump for any and ever fic idea people have and it's just like FFnet or Ao3 where only really popular and common stuff gets filled, or even prompted. It's discouraging, at least to me. I used to be a big player in the bioshock kinkmeme and we would hold drives and have long freezes to try and get almost every prompt filled. Even the hetalia kinkmeme, which moved a lot faster than this one, had a high ratio of fills. Maybe I'm just disillusioned with fandom in general post-livejournal, idk, but it feels to me like, why even bother prompting if my prompt isn't something with a dozen other similar fills that I know probably will get filled. It feels like nothing else has a chance.

Could be the active part of fandom is getting older, and younger kids are not as into spending all that time writing fics, while older folks have other priorities?

And there are so much media out there, one could only be active with one thing at a time. When I play video games, I don't fandom. When I read novels, I don't fandom. So much distraction out there now.

And the Hetalia fandom was significantly larger, as far as kinkmeme filling goes. I still remember the dragon age kinkmeme where fill ratio wasn't super high either. Plus LJ's demise, I find, decentralizes the writing part of fandom to an extent. The feedback and back and forth between fans is a lot harder to organize on tumblr.

So: when talking about a penis, you could call it either a penis, a dick, or a cock. Anything beyond that could sound awkward, but in terms of usage, penis is clinical, dick is (vulgar) slang, cock is usually sexual. Easy enough.
What the Hell is the equivalent for a vagina?
I'm guessing vagina is clinical, cunt is the vulgar bit, but I can't think of anything to seriously fill the sexual usage. "Pussy" gets too close to vulgar slang usage again, from what I have seen.
So my question is: what is the word you generally use when when you write about a vagina? English is not my first language and I'd hate to mess up a fic by using the wrong slang and making it weird. Thank you! ^u^

Good luck with the search. The number of people in fandom writing about vaginas is statistically quite small.

Ah yes, this old problem. I tend to go with avoidance of the issue in my writing. I talk about the "labia" and "clit" (occasionally "clitoris" if I have used clit previously in the text a couple of times and it fits the flow of the sentence) if I need specific words. Maybe a bit over-clinical, but it suits my writing well enough.

I also dance around the issue with terms like "inside" or even "slick folds" (I swear it works in context, it just seems weird in isolation from the sentence). It really makes me wish there were more slang terms that didn't sound silly/are considered offensive.

When reading porn, I generally prefer reading the word "cunt", but I'm from Australia and our level of swear-word intensity is pretty different from some other parts of the world. I have heard this is a mortal insult in some places, where as "cunt" is occasionally used informally among friends here, depending on what circles you're running in.

Speaking as someone who loves tumblr and has spent years active on it, I feel like it has all but ruined fanfic communities. It's a horrible format for community interaction

Man I loved the Hetalia kinkmeme. Maybe is just fandom size when it comes to writers ratio. That or the fact that the Hetalia fandom had a larger amount of available popular ships that opened the door for lots of kinks. While here it just seems like Kylux is the main focus for kink and at this point everyone had written every major kink for them. People seem to shy away from kinky Stormpilot which is the next most popular ship and rare ships aren't really brining in much. Which is a shame because kinky Finnlo is my jam. You can't really compare it.

Also communities like Dreamwidth never really grew as big as the old LiveJournal days. Even the Avengers kinkmeme isn't really that active with their latest round having started in April. Kinkmeme are just not as popular anymore.

Agree. And while I like the kudos system on AO3 since it's an easy way to leave feedback, it also means less people really feel the need for interaction and I think many writers end up discouraged and just begin to move away from fandom.

The main problem I see with communication on AO3 is that there's no messaging system in place. If you want to say anything to a writer, you have to say it publicly in the comments section, unless they specifically supply a Tumblr link or something.

I've seen "slit" used to rather good effect, along with "pubic mound." Though like the previous anon said, it's easier to list the vag's parts rather than refer to the whole thing - pussy lips, labia, clit, etc...

That's part of it too and a lot of people are just not that comfortable with public interaction. Something that I as a writer do enjoy because honestly some of my best ideas in stories have come through back and forth interactions and feedback with my readers. Unfortunately I feel like that's also that has been lost since people are afraid to come across as negative. It's a shame really. I'm human, praise makes me blush. But as ESL, honest feedback is something I wish I got more to help me improve.

I think part of it is that this kinkmeme was huge and fast, so there was no way the ratio could keep up.

Also, as a filler, I'd fill previous-round prompts more often if those fills got even half the attention of current-round fills :/

As it is, I only go back for the really unique prompts.
