nayrt

I find that the people who are only here to post the same three prompts slightly re-wroded disappear, and people who actually read and write and are interested in the movie and fandom stick around.

I don't think it matters. The avengers kink is called that but let's prompts from non-avengers films as long as they're within the universe. If the mods changes the rule to allow prompts for the other films I don't think people will think too much about the name. I don't think separate communities would be a good idea. As I said, from what I've seen the other Star Wars kinkmeme isn't very active. If more kinkmemes start showing up activity will likely get worse and it'll be harder for fans to keep track of everything. As you said we will just be creating very short lived memes.

I'm not a mod, but I think it's something they should consider.

I'm not making any judgements. I wasn't that into TFA based in the trailer and here I am. It also looks like it will have a strong supporting cast of great actors so whenever the lead is good or bad doesn't make a lot of a difference.

It's more the pandering to a perceived demographic that annoys me. It looks like they took a standardized plot and character and slapped Star Wars stickers all over it. I'll go see it, but it's going to have an uphill struggle to make me see past that.

I just feel that everything they did right with Rey, they were set to do wrong with that new female main character. I'm so over the "bitchy edgy rebel gurrrl" trope because it feels like this is the only characterisation they think a cardboard cut-out ~strong female character~ can have. It's equally overdone as the mid-thirties stubbly/grungy white guy main character.

Were there more negative comments that got deleted? Because right now I'm seeing two that talk about rape in a critical way. One is in response to someone who says they see nothing wrong with Poe's situation, and didn't have anything negative to say about the fic or the author. The other made it sound like maybe noncon wasn't originally tagged ("It's just that this is at least an issue where the warning should be for rape/non-con, not just for 'dubious consent'"), this seemed to be their main issue, and they also apologized for leaving a negative comment and complimented the author on their style and characterization.

I get being jumpy when this fandom can go from 0 to dogpile in .05 seconds, but based on what I'm seeing that hasn't happened here. If the commenter missed a clearly posted warning, yeah, that sucks. But if it was a case of the author adding a tag afterward rather than the reader missing it, I'm not seeing the problem, and that's the kind of mildly negative comment an author needs to be able to take in stride, especially when all the others are full of praise.

As someone who ships Darkpilot I get very rankled when people try to come in to something I enjoy with "as a survivor of sexual assault I think you need to feel this way about the thing you like". There's more of that here. It's manipulative and I'm sick of it, honestly. I've also survived sexual assault and I enjoy reading this kind of thing.

...This reads more angry than I meant it. I guess it's just the point of my rant, though. Even if it was just labeled 'dub-con' initially, why would you want to read something so close to non-con if you're not into non-con?

Pfft. I can just imagine it.

Poe: 'MWAAHAHAHAHA! I was working with HYDRA all along!"
Everyone else: The fuck is HYDRA?

To be honest, I agree. I do think it sucks that the author went on hiatus. But I didn't feel the comments were that bad either? The story was originally tagged as (dubcon) and I do agree the noncon tag was more appropriate. Although I think the difference between these two tags tends to come down to the read and author many times. I tend to be harder on them, only using dubcon when the characters might be drunk or under outside influence like sex pollen. In this case Poe feels like he has no other choice in the matter, while Finn (and Rey) hold all of the powers so I agreed noncon was a better tag.

The author changed it and that was it. If they feel they need to go on hiatus to revise the story that is fine too, but I don't think it is fair to go after the commenter either because they weren't really attacking the author. This wasn't like that other sex pollen story when people went with personal attacks against the author and ordered them to take the entire story down.

Dub con and noncon in real life boil down to the same thing, but for fandom thy can be miles apart.

It goes both ways.

I had no issues with the story, I left a comment before the hiatus thing praising it. But this is one of those complex fandom issues. When it comes to tagging dubcon and noncon sometime there is a thin line separating them that is not going to be the same for everyone.

I also didn't feel like the comment was manipulative at all. Pointing out a different tag would be more appropriate doesn't sound like harassment or bullying.

i liked the movie a lot, but that is because for me as a cherik shipper, that was like gold.
for the role of oscar though, it felt like they could have casted any noname actor.
it just felt pretty generic of a villain, and behind the costume and mask, you could hardly recognize him anyway.

That's hilarious, but its kind of scary in that I can see Poe subsequently founding HYDRA in the SW universe and wrecking up some serious shit. Dark!Poe would not fuck around, I don't think.

Re: character ID help

No, but I think he's played by a notable crewperson, like the sound guy who was one of the stormtroopers on starkiller with a line and a death.

He looks like Gaius off Merlin a little tho

Even if it was just labeled 'dub-con' initially, why would you want to read something so close to non-con if you're not into non-con?

Dubcon is one of those things that can vary widely in tone and content, including enthusiastically lowered inhibitions (sex pollen, heat, drugs), ravishment fantasy, power differentials, coercion and manipulation played seriously, and more variations. It's common to like one of those flavors but not the others, and with some varieties, a reader's line between hell yes and fuck no might be thinner than others. It's usually pretty easy to tell early on which one an author is going for, but it still doesn't hurt to tag the borderline cases carefully.

That doesn't justify a reader attacking an author over a difference in opinion surrounding tagging, of course, but as I see it, that's not what happened here.

I don't particularly ship Reylo. But I just wanted to say that as someone from the A Song of Ice and Fire fandom, it is the funniest shit to me that people sometimes use "but they might be related!!!!" as a reason Reylo is Not Good. Oh, my sweet summer child. Boy howdy do I have some news for you...

Delicious anon here

Unfortunately this issue is entirely due to delicious themselves. Over the last few months they've been migrating from delicious to del.icio.us (which has been a headache and a half for me). To top it off the last two days they've been having problems/doing site maintenance (hello 4 pages of linking down the drain).

Best bet for the 'load more' may be to message them and let them know it's not working. I know it's quite the headache, especially when you're looking for something specific. Hopefully this is something that delicious will be fixing soon.
